Of course Wikipedia has a helpful diagram for those who don't know about Kanchō.

In France, we call this an olive.

As a Swiss young adult, kids in our middle school did that all the time.

Here in the US, I first learned about this from a Japanese exchange student. We quickly told him not to try it. Dude would have gotten his ass kicked by whomever he poked.

Hahhaha yeah.

It’s was very localised to pre-teen middle schoolers in my generation. Once people hit puberty that shit would not fly (no pun intended).

Wow, I didn't expect to get this triggered on the internet today.

TW Sexual AssaultI used to work as a chef here in Australia. One workplace I was at had the head chef both participate, and condone, in a culture of ruthlessly doing this. I was constantly targeted, because I was obviously queer, even tho I was cis male-presenting at the time and married. One day I was locked in the cool-room with two other chefs, much larger than me, who pulled my pants down to do this to me, as well as trying to get me hard. All to prove that I was actually gay and lying to my then wife. It was the catalyst that finally made me come out, as despite trying to force myself into the closet, it somehow was still obvious that I was queer to people. And yeah, I'm gay, but gay for girls.

I just wanted to see what happened if the player was actually successful. Not once in that whole clip did they hit the target. My disappointment is immense

My local cohort had a similar 'game' where you shout "Gaddafi" as you do the poke...

Ah, the Hopoate

Seanbaby wrote about this game in like 2001! I remember actually rolling on the floor laughing as my best friend read the article out loud during a Friday sleepover
