CNN put out a statement and Abby Philip released a clip:

Girdusky is doubling down saying it was a joke:

This is such a nuts clip. The dude is a piece of shit, immediately realizing he fucked up then saying "well I thought he said he supports Hamas" even though Medhi didn't even mention Hamas.

They're getting so close to slaping swastikas on their arms, this guy realized immediately that he can't quite put the arm band on yet. But he desperately desperately wants to.

Fuck this guy. Medhi Hasan is an amazing journalist and he doesn't deserve this shit.

Kinda like Musk after the first assassination attempt. These people are chomping at the bit to go all-in fascist as soon as they think the gates are open

[–] [email protected] 122 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Ryan James Girdusky, the POS in this clip, just posted on X: "You can stay on CNN if you falsely call every Republican a Nazi and have taken money from Qatar-funded media. Apparently you can't go on CNN if you make a joke. I'm glad America gets to see what CNN stands for." (I'm not going to post a link because fuck that platform.)

"Oh I was joking". If you were joking you wouldn't have told people you responded because you thought Mehdi said Hamas (which you didn't think, you heard Palestinian and got angry). You would have said it was a bad joke. What a typical Nazi crybully Girdusky is.

[–] [email protected] 97 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

"I was just joking" is every fascist's go-to line when they realize their hatred is not accepted by present company. Walking that line between serious hate speech/incitement and "only joking" is absolutely characteristic of fascism.

[–] [email protected] 75 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Republicans think that a joke is what you retroactively call something you said in earnest as soon as you get pushback.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You can stay on CNN if you falsely call every Republican a Nazi

That's not falsely though. If you're supporting a party that's running a Nazi, you're a fucking Nazi.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Naah, the Nazis had better dress sense. Other than that, though...

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not every generation of Nazis can have a Hugo Boss

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Now they just have a huge boss...

Note that Girdusky is listed as one of the board of advisors of American Moment which is a group that's listed by the Heritage Foundation as a Project 2025 partner

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

[–] [email protected] 74 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Dude realizes he said a heartfelt, knee-jerk "quiet part out loud" and frantically tries to walk it back. It's SO obvious that in his heart all Palestinians, and anyone who supports Palestinian rights, is a) Hamas and b) a valid target.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

No need for (a). That's barely a cover and certainly not part of his racist mathematics.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

People will inevitably slip and tell you who they truly are. Like Trump, who says conservatives won't have to vote again and he will be a dictator on day 1 and he wants to jail political opponents. Believe them.

[–] [email protected] 59 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Turns out, that guy used to write for Richard Spencer.

[–] [email protected] 39 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Wow.

Oh this country is so fucked.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 month ago (1 children)

When people vote to fuck everything up in their country, you get a country that is fucked, yes.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This goes beyond electoral politics. Political discourse as a whole in that country is fucked.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Because we elected people who fucked the country for decades, which fucked our discourse.

When one party is bugfuck and you keep giving them power, they're gonna fuck the country. And the harder they fuck the country, the harder they have to fuck the political discourse to keep fucking up the country.

That happened in the 80's.

This is the part where you find out.

How the fuck do you accuse someone of being a terrorist and then threaten to blow them up? Also, I am slowly missing the "talking stick", more and more.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

How the fuck do you accuse someone of being a terrorist and then threaten to blow them up?

Same way you claim your political opposition is committing widespread voter fraud, and then yours is the only party ever caught doing it.

Same way you accuse trans folks of being "child groomers," when the vast majority of cases involve men from your own political party or religious group.

Same way... Well, you see where this is going.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Part of the reason why this is encouraged is a lack of condemnation and sanctions on Israel for its pager terror attack. Instead you had many media outlets praise how "sophisticated" that attack was and many made "beeper jokes" on twitter and co.

The endorsement this terror attack by Israel gained from all parts of the mainstream political spectrum of course results in the American and European fascists endorsing to use it to terrorize their political opponents. if Israeli fascists get praised for terror attacks, ehy shpuldnt western fascists be also praised for it?

After all, many of these opponents parties themselves praised this kind of terror. Note that this is not exclusive to the US. In Germany there also have been dozens of supposed liberal and progressive politicians and journalists cheering on the terror attack and making "beeper jokes" to suggest killing people in Germany in this way too.

If the story hadn't been written out, I would definitely not be able to follow the cacophony that was that goddamn video.

Sucks to your ass-mar

[–] [email protected] 41 points 1 month ago

Medhi is a fucking gem. If you aren't subscribed to his YT or Zeteo, the fuck are you even doing.

[–] [email protected] 40 points 1 month ago

“Just joking” is the sorry-not-sorry of the fascist world.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Girdusky responded, “You’re called an anti-Semite more than anyone at this table.”

Hasan replied, “Yeah, by you.”

Girdusky fired back, “I never called you an anti-Semite.”

Buddy, you just did

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Never. Stop. Lying.

As long as you keep getting platformed, some number of people will eventually believe you.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I... I feel like this is basically something that would happen in some kind of prequel to V for Vendetta, like the 'expanded universe' of archived clips, stored in Stephen Fry's secret art dungeon.

... fucking hell.

It's just a joke.

Then go be a racist comedian at a Trump rally.

People are trying to discuss things.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I've seen a mirror; I think it was xcancel.com. (I just checked that and it does seem like a mirror.)

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

Or also nitter.poast.org

Lol. What a little bitch

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm a little surprised CNN fired him. They got bought out by shitheads and it's sole purpose now is to masquerade as news while being the thinnest end of the wedge for nazi conservative bullshit.

This guy's tactical mistake was forgetting to be gentlemanly and news anchorly about it.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

CNN loves mainstreaming guys like Tucker Carlson, Glenn Beck, and Eric Erickson to collect the wingnut welfare checks that come with them.

It's only when they start costing more than they bring in that they get cut loose. Then they roll out new "respectable" conservative front men to replace the old ones.
