Welcome to a Star Trek community where you’re free to chat and share your opinions about all things Trek!

I want to have a place where fans can come to praise, discuss, and even criticise things in the Star Trek franchise. No show or movie is perfect, and I don't believe people should be silenced for having a dissenting opinion. That being said, there are still a few rules.

Be Nice - No personal attacks. You can disagree with someone's opinion, but it needs to stop there.

No Slurs - This is applicable to ethnicity, religion, gender, or anything else.

No Adult Content - Keep it family friendly.

No Spamming or Trolling - Consistently spamming comments or trolling is just not needed.

Please keep topics Trek related or Trek adjacent for the most part, and have fun!

Have you watched any Star Trek since last week? I'm thinking of doing a weekly post like this where people can drop the Star Trek shows, movies, or print media that they've consumed in the past week, as well as their thoughts on them.

VOY 3x8,3x9,3x10,3x11, and 3x12. I haven't seen Voyager since it originally aired and my partner has never seen it. This is a really interesting point in the series for me.

The good: the doctor gets the mobile emitter. This is the first really big change in the show structure and more doctor is always better. Plus, Future's End (3x8 and 3x9) is a really fun 2-parter with great guests.

The bad: the lack of character or circumstance development really starts to drag by this point. I know there's the big shakeup at the end of season 3 and I'm extremely ready for it. Warlord (3x10) tries to be a big Kes episode to circle back to her psychic powers but like everything it goes nowhere. Not to mention I know her story goes nowhere so it's hard to be excited about anything she does.

The Doctor is definitely one of the highlights of the show for me! I enjoy seeing Picardo on other things I watch too, his appearance on DS9 and his character in the Stargate franchise both spring to mind. It also reminds me he's on Prodigy too, and that I haven't finished it yet!

I agree on the development on Voyager, I feel like they definitely missed some good stories and arcs due to the unique setting.

Kes’ storyline is a mess. They kept trying and trying to retool it throughout the series.

I started rewatching Voyager yesterday and I finished a DS9 rewatch last Saturday.

Nice! I should really do a Voyager rewatch sometime. It's been a while since I've seen it.

Over the last week I was watching these episodes:

  • DS9 3x11 & 3x12 Past Tense - Since this past week was the date the episodes were set, I decided to watch them! It was really interesting to see the similarities and differences to the real world.
  • SNW 2x04 Among the Lotus Eaters - This is the only episode that I felt was a misstep in Strange New World's second season. The story on the planet was good, but the segments on the ship interrupted the flow and dragged on a little too long for my tastes. Still an interesting episode though.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Prodigy - Crossroads

The Motion Picture is a good watch! It seems to be a divisive movie for the fanbase, but I enjoy it quite a bit.

I really need to finish Prodigy sometime! I'm not a huge fan of the animation style, but the stories aren't bad. I just have too many other things to watch!

Slogging my way through DS9 season 1. Just watched the one with Mike from breaking bad.

They were definitely some shaky episodes in the first season! I still find most of it interesting though, especially all the groundwork for the later seasons.

I never watched Breaking Bad, but doing some quick research brings up Battle Lines. They had some pretty good character development in that episode.
