In other news, rats prefer not going down with the ship, despite all their previous prophesying

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Idk about that, I'd like to see some stats on how many GOP congressmen endorse Harris.

Rats are great swimmers, if Trump won they would instantly become loyal again.

There are things worse than rats

These speakers are the real conservatives and they will tell you up front that they don't agree with most Democrats BUT they see the very real danger that their party has become. Sometimes a back-fire is necessary to fight a forest fire. In other words, take the bus that gets you closest to your destination.

[–] [email protected] 30 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (2 children)

Yup! We can return the favor by supporting Republicans who follow reason and act in good faith. We all recognize that in some places getting anyone left leaning elected is practically impossible. So what we can do is back a good red ticket instead. Just one of many courses we could take in the near future. If you squint, this also has the potential to lead into a three party system later on.

That said, accountability should be part of the game they're playing.

I'll let you know when I find one...

Ever heard the phrase RINO, Republican In Name Only?

Reagan and Jerry Falwell purged the liberal GOPs back in the 1980s.

These days, George W. is considered a weak sister.

[–] [email protected] 66 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Oh how typical.

Republicans speaking out against the evil they not only participated in, but profited from.. but only after they've done their damage, made their corruption money, and retired, so they can have their cake and eat it too.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Not all retired. But your point still mostly stands.

It's insane to me that Brain Kemp would still support Trump after he shit talked him and his wife for not participating in his little insurrection.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Its almost as if Republicans don't give a flying fuck about women, even the ones they are married to/are parents of.

[–] Dwayne_Elizondo_Mountain_Dew_Camacho 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Republican 2024 vice presidential candidate JD Vance once said about his wife, Usha: “Obviously, she’s not a white person … But I just, I love Usha. She’s such a good mom.”

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That's dangerously close to the quiet part being said aloud isn't it?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

When it comes to misogyny yes, but when it comes to the racism it’s a different kind of acknowledgment. It’s the “I know I’m running in the party of racists while in an interracial marriage, but I’ll live with them if they can live with me”.

Hey, females are their second favorite gender!

Then again they do only believe in two of those....

[–] ultramaven 42 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Man I wish people understood that the Republican party is literally dead. Like, the Trumps literally own the party. And constitutionally, they can defacto choose their leader from here on. I mean everyone lost their shit about Debbie Schulz and Bernie, but the Trumps literally fucking buy the RNC and no one makes the connection? Can we bring that back up? Because they call Kamala’s ascendancy questionable — it’s pure projection! Who can even believe anything our beleaguered eyes even say anymore. Fuck this, fuck everyone. If Kamala doesn’t win, I hope I’m dead before we infinitely regress into feudal pieces of shit

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago (2 children)

do the republicans realize they're gonna have some bullshit fuckhead with the last name Trump on the ticket in 2028, 2032, 2036, and so on until they're all dead?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago (3 children)

America doesn't need this royal family bullshit, didn't need it from Bush, didn't need it from Clinton, definitely don't need it from Chump

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

John Quincy Adams has entered the chat.

The goal is to kick enough sand in everyone’s eyes that they just complain about Democrats, business as usual.

[–] [email protected] 37 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

It's like none of the Republicans of the last 8 year have any ambition of their own. Willing to suck off an orange circus clown for the chance to be in the circus.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 3 months ago (1 children)

When the rats start jumping, the ship is sinking.

They might be rats, but it's a good sign.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago (2 children)

And the DNC is welcoming those rats aboard

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago (4 children)

No. They're just realizing there's a difference between an opponent and an enemy.

I may think non-MAGA Republicans are wrong, but I never doubted that Romney, McCain, and even Bush were traitors or enemies of the United States. I'll happily work alongside Republicans when our goals align, I'll speak out when they do not, and I'll try and reach a consensus with my fellow Americans.

Trump is a traitor and an enemy to American Democracy and the rule of law. There is no compromise. No working together. He needs to be stopped at any cost, and I'll accept the help of anyone who wants to fight him.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

They want a seat at the table and Trump's taint isn't tasty anymore

Alternative headline: DNC keeps platforming paleoconservatives 🤦

Just because Trump is a bridge too far for them doesn't mean they're not the enemy when it comes to everything except presidential endorsements.

The DNC promoting these Dick Cheney-style ghouls is moving the media Overton window further right to the enormous detriment of everyone who's to the left of Ronald "sledgehammer to the economy to benefit the rich" Reagan.

[–] [email protected] 69 points 3 months ago (11 children)

I mean yes but Jesus Christ they're helping us douse an active house fire, this is all hands on deck.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

a house fire they helped light and fueled, before they retired and suddenly started speaking out, totally not in an attempt to angle for a speaking head job at some network where they can play both sides.

call me crazy, but I don't particularly want an arsonists help with regards to putting out fire.

It's absolutely insane to see folks who would have gleefully endorsed Project 2025 any other day of the week show up to say "Donald Trump was mean to me, personally, so I'm supporting Kamala Harris this year."

They're not your fucking friends.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago (3 children)

good lets bring back that republican party so congress can be about debating boring things like tax policy instead of having them fight to ban books, ban trans people, or ban immigrants.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Lord. I miss the days when I could say "I think the Republican candidate will meaningfully weaken American influence and moral authority on the world stage, damage our national finances in service to business elites, and cause needless deaths both at home and abroad through reckless and callous policy" instead of "Jesus fucking Christ, this is just outright, directly stated fascism, why are all of you ghouls still voting [R]???"

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I remember when I was crazy for suspecting evil of the GOP, am I crazy now father? Actually I'm just kidding, my dad hasn't been for Republicans since they shit themselves upon seeing a black man in the Whites Only House

After fucking decades of the most atrocious government at every fucking level - local, state, and federal - anyone could have dreamed up, why the fuck am I supposed to find the endorsement of "Guy who defunded the public libraries and day care centers in majority black neighborhoods so he could give tax cuts to the most Mr. Burns looking motherfucker in town" appealing?

These people suck. I don't want Democrats to feel like they owe them anything. Especially after Obama spent his first 100 days doing the compromise dance, only to get kicked in the balls over and over again by the most sadistic ghouls the US Senate has to offer.

Trying to appeal to republicans sure worked out well in 2016. And in 2022. I'm sure this time, all the republicans will vote democrat if the democrats just turn into republicans in all but name.
