Half a dozen assailants have ransacked the headquarters of Venezuela's opposition leader Maria Corina Machado. It comes as Human Rights watch said at least 20 people have died in post-election protests.

Masked assailants ransacked and vandalized the headquarters of Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado on Friday, the party said.

The development comes after disputed elections in Venezuela saw President Nicolas Maduro claim victory, while protests have broken out in Caracas.

Friday's raid occurred at around 3 a.m. local time (0700 GMT), Machado's party, Vente Venezuela, said.

Can people join join even if they’re not from your state?

The only other instance that defederates with ml is lemmy.cafe and it is quite slow in terms of responsivness

Block the domain. You can do it where you are right now. I eventually did it because I was tired of the Russian roulette. No double entadre intended. Posting to a community on ml and not realizing it. The blowback when you say anything against or point out holes in their narratives just isn't worth it.

My instance is actually smaller than .cafe, I believe.

I've thought about opening it up a bit more (midwest.social kind of covers the tri-state area as far as being a regional instance), but haven't made a decision on that yet.

As far as the vibe here, it's basically "Beehaw but with downvotes enabled" lol.

sorry i meant less responsive ie. website is slow, not small.

Ah that makes sense. Cool project and instance :)

This is a totally normal thing to have happen in a stable democracy. Western imperialists just wouldn't understand!

It's not just .ml. They're coming from every instance spouting insanity and coups.

I don't really understand the non sequitur of the other comments in this thread.

The authoritarian leader who refused to let the opposition leader run, obviously lost his election against a retired diplomat and then claimed victory. The people went to the streets in protest. Counter protests were encouraged by the authoritarian leader. The opposition leader that was not allowed to run has now had their headquarters ransacked by masked assailants. I wonder by whom. /s

Did che fuck up the economy and shit when he was in power? Sure. Did Maduro fuck it harder by not trying to modify the economy when oil prices tanked? Yup. Should he have stepped down when he lost? Yes.

Gods below, I wish we could just have nice things on this planet. But I guess that's what happens when we let the grabbiest of humans have power. And I don't mean that in any kind of ideological sense, but rather in the "grabby aliens" sense.

It inspires little confidence in our continued existence on this planet.
