It's called the Voivod.
Researchers are ecstatic at the prospect that they may have finally discovered the region of space from which Ozzy Osbourne voivod to this planet?
Ok, that's the skull. Now, do how aliens would reconstruct the Nebula's face, vs the Nabula's actual face.
For me, the bare skull does imply some derpyness. I think it's the position of the eyeholes.
All I can see is
Also the mouth makes it look like it's going "huh."
Isn't the bottom image from The Jungle Cruise ride in Disneyland?
Here is a better representation of the nebula:
If I rotate this picture 180°, it looks pretty much the same as the one in the OP.
You have a good eye
It's not fake, just processed differently.

The petals of this rose are actually a stellar nursery where new stars are being born. This nebula has also been referred to as the “skull”, as it resembles a human skull in certain orientations.
Paw
See my comment, it's real.
"Some say"
Those who say it doesn't look like a skull must be dumb
Could be face blind. Or have a lack of pareidolia.
I think they're using the ancient-aliens narration style.
All of these kinds of photos are doctored because the raw data isn't as interesting.
Not resembles, DEPICTS. The nebula has become self-aware!
Had to blink a few times but damn that's metal
Nasa used filters before filters were cool
This is, in fact, quite metal
That's a monkey skull!
Hmm, looks more like a dog to me
Maybe a Pug 😂
Looked it up, and that's some fuckin nightmare fuel.
That's exactly what I saw!
I feel like, if Bill Nye ever drops a metal album…
This should be the album art.
Death Eaters In Space
I just watched a bunch of baby monkey videos, so it just looks like a baby monkey to me.
