The true path to tolerance is to be intolerant of intolerance.

Fucking Nazis. Broken-ass individuals interrupting the society-wide peace (as... imperfect and in need of correction as it is) we try to enjoy.

Good nazi is nazi under the grave.

Tolerance is an opt in game. If you are intolerant you do not deserve tolerance

very easy to understand when you put it that way! idk why so many reddit-brains get so eager to trip themselves up with the “it’s a paradox here read this mega wikipedia article” nonsense 😅

The issue is that they treat the word tolerance like they treat the word respect. "I'll respect you if you respect me" means I'll treat you with baseline decency if you treat me like an authority figure. "I'll tolerate you if you tolerate me" means I'll begrudgingly allow you to live if you accept and indulge all my ideas.

Odd choice to put the paradox part in the middle when the paradox of tolerance is more in favor of the ends

What if someone just keeps assuming you’re hurting them though? Like conservatives think it’s an attack on them that women want abortions or trans people can use bathrooms for their gender

relevant language hilighted. they are wrong because those things have nothing the fuck to do with them. controlling women’s bodies and the ability of trans people to comfortably pee is a crime against their rights. full stop.

Agreed, conservative attitudes on these issues are based on trying to control how other people think or what they do. They choose to believe that other people’s differences are an affront to them

A hidden conspiracy theory part of my brain sees that the “it’s a paradox” narrative of tolerance only seems to benefit conservatives and draws conclusions from there.

Because yeah if we use the “paradox” model, pure blatant racism is still wrong, but when conservatives mince words and go “immigration is an affront to my culture,” the paradox model almost serves as an enabling force whereas a simple social contract model does not.

Conservatives have brainrot, using them as an example of judgement in tolerance is not a valid argument. They come to the table intolerant.
