I can’t think of anything more 2024 than openly talking about having sexual intercourse with household objects but censoring the word “retard”.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago (2 children)

funnily enough my (or your) instance filters out the word too

[–] [email protected] 10 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I switched over from your instance because of the censorship. It's infantilizing to cross out or add asterisks to such words.

Nah that's your instance. It shows up fine when I view it on mine, but when I go on your it does indeed say removed.

.world censored the full fag word

Awww

They went from 'toasters' to 'a toaster'. OP stopped slutting it up and found the toaster for them. How wholesome

[–] [email protected] 53 points 8 months ago (4 children)

It was definitely there before the internet, too. You just couldn't easily connect with other toaster fuckers.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 8 months ago (1 children)

No you couldn't...I connected with em perfectly fine

[–] [email protected] 12 points 8 months ago

You must be a toaster

[–] [email protected] 10 points 8 months ago

Being unable to find a group of enablers to reinforce each other's insanity is a good thing.

Having to have actual, real life humans as your social circle helps in actually socializing people. Like kittens who need other cats around to learn how to properly cat themselves. Without it they develop social issues or worse.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago

Sure, but it was internet that made these tiny scattered groups into large findable ones

Before the internet you would need to live near a proud and loud toaster fucker to find a group

Old furries in tech are in tech because they learnt and used early computer networks to connect with other furries

That has to be at least a quarter of the entire Warhammer 40k community.

fuck up your life

You see, the thing about that is you always hear about the guy who jerks off to r/dragonsfuckingcars and then does a mass shooting, but you never hear about the guy who goes to work in the morning, does an adequate job, comes home, jerks off to r/dragonsfuckingcars and then goes peacefully to sleep

A metaphor for Alex Jones and his acolytes

[–] [email protected] 9 points 8 months ago (1 children)

and so many others online. there are so many very tight and close echo chambers, where people outright invent a new reality for themselves, and get angry, antagonistic towards actual reality

See: AntiVaxxers, NeoNazi's, and Flat Earthers.

at least before social media these nutbars stayed isolated and alone and couldn't get together and recruit / spread their messages easily.

Oh no, was After Dark a gateway drug?

[–] Secret300 9 points 8 months ago

I hate the censorship

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago (3 children)

Is he talking literally about toasters or using it as a slang for robots/androids?

[–] [email protected] 29 points 8 months ago (2 children)

It's an allegory for any "extremely niche" interest that would have been considered super weird before these people could easily find eachother, although OP probably had furries and people like that in mind.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 8 months ago (4 children)

It's 4chan. The dude literally wants to fuck toasters.

[–] paysrenttobirds 3 points 8 months ago

I remember an early wtf Internet moment for me on fark.com someone linked a car-fucking forum complete with diy "muffler cosies", etc. Probably at least half joking, right??

Your life and your toaster

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago (2 children)

[–] Early_To_Risa 4 points 8 months ago
