8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners.
The auto mod will contact you if a link shortener is detected, please delete your post if they are right.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

You're right, there seems to have been some misreporting initially.
Something has gone fundamentally wrong regarding upbringing, school and mental health if a 12-year-old gets access to a gun and starts shooting innocent people as a means of "revenge".
I think the police have stated they are not yet aware of a possible motive, we know the child's weapon was registered to a close relative but how they got it and why they used it is still a mystery. Terrible and sad that someone so young felt like taking a life is a valid course of action.
Children's brains aren't fully developed, so we can't exactly expect them to behave completely rational 100% of the time. This i s why kids shouldn't have access to firearms, period. Even if they're "properly trained."
I wonder what will happen to the gun owner. They clearly did not secure their gun.
