A great example of a religious philosopher was Nietzsche who wrote "God is Dead" as a warning that declining faith could lead to rising immorality. As somebody that spent three years trying to get a job as a tenure track philosophy professor, this is very accurate.
As a software developer, I would name the second category “People who write about philosophy”
