No they didn't. This grandma is not 90+, so back in her day, Nazis were respected members of the US scientific community.

I think Nazis were respected members of society in the US before the war. And the theory goes US joined against Germany because they feared a takeover from within otherwise.

We joined wwII because of pearl harbor against the Japanese, the Nazis declared war on us after that.
