Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis faced a sharp, surprising rebuke from a conservative appeals court on Wednesday, which dealt him a major setback in his quest to banish state prosecutor Andrew Warren from office. In fact, “setback” may be too mild a term: DeSantis got smoked at the court, which effectively accused him of abusing his office to punish Warren on the basis of protected speech. Most surprisingly, the governor’s harshest critic was Judge Kevin Newsom, a staunchly conservative Donald Trump appointee who went out of his way to charge DeSantis with an unconstitutional assault on “representative democracy.”

They're only allowed to use it figuratively once for each time it's used literally.

If we could start framing all politicians as chided babies, that'd be nice

Maybe spanks will be the new slams, who knows? Heres what I know for a fact though. These comments criticizing reporters for using superlatives are super effective at taking the target off ron desantis' back and putting that target directly on the messenger (the reporter). We now have a whole thread discussing the reporter rather than holding a fascist with real power in the real world accountable. Whether intentional or not people doing this are deflecting blame and carrying water for ron desantis. Whats important here? That a politician is using their position for immoral, unethical, and perhaps illegal acts or someone tangential to that whole situation used a silly word? Reminds me of a bunch of 7 year olds looking up "sex" in the dictionary and giggling.

(:squints eyes:) ..spanks?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 6 months ago

Yeah, spanks means you get unlimited number of times violating the constitution and the federal/state government has to keep cleaning up your mess using our tax dollars.

[–] [email protected] 38 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Great. Now charge DeSantis with violating Warren's constitutional rights.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 6 months ago

Impeach! Impeach!

She should spank him so many times. Spank him so hard that Seminole natives are birthed through his big nipple holes.

I've just got to say, coming to this comment after having a bunch of genocide apologists piling on me was exactly what I needed. So thank you

It shouldn't be surprising that a Trump appointee is doing things to hurt an opponent of Trump

[–] [email protected] 12 points 6 months ago (1 children)

DeSantis is no longer an opponent of Trump, they both support one another now.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Well, I suppose with his head that far up Trumps backside he would offer some amount of support, but Trump isn't supporting shit. Well, maybe the spray tan and girdle industry.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 6 months ago

Anyone who truly believes that Trump will support them is an idiot. Trump cares only for himself.

Disney will just use this to point at a "pattern of behavior"
