I’m considering becoming an electrician and have alot of questions, to start off with I currently live in ILLINOIS near Chicago, Where do I start ? Ive seen union vs non union approaches

Also at some point my girlfriend wants to move to a state near the south, if i started being an electrician here could I move ?
