The industrialists in Germany made the same devil's bargain back in 1933.

History does not repeat, but it sure rhymes.

We might not actually be imitating Germany in 1923.

We might be working on a reboot of France, 1789.

I like cake! But I imagine the rich taste better

Note: I do not agree with this.

The angle here is that France gave so much money to the US to support the American Revolution that they went entirely bankrupt and this lead directly to the French Revolution and a lot of head chopping. They did this specifically to screw over the UK because they were rivals but screwed themselves over in the process.

The person you responded to is making comparisons to that and aid to Israel/Ukraine now.

Wait, so the French Revolution was repeated by the US at the end of WWI trying to help the German economy and then when Americans should have been blaming insider trading and corruption, instead they were like, "eh, suicide is easier than building a guillotine?"

Also, I don't get the comparison...

Germany in 1923 was a destitute country because the world decided that Germany was responsible for raparations to every country they affected during WWI. This destroyed their economy and ruined the lives of millions of innocent civilians, which really lead the way for Hitler and the Nazis to take power after. I don't know what specifically is important about 1923 here, so there may be some reference I'm missing.

I'm not understanding your reference to France in the last message.

The industrialists in America made the same bargain. Henry Ford, JP Morgan, Joseph Kennedy, Prescott Bush. All pro-Nazi.

And today Germany is the industrial, and financial, powerhouse of Europe! Sometimes history is F*^ked Up.

Wall Street was a mistake.

Coming down out of the trees was a mistake.

"In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."

...and thats exactly why dolphins are, canonically, the 2nd most intelligent species on the planet with humans a distant 3rd.

Emerging from the celestial ether was a mistake.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

Let's be fair, humans were alright until they decided to settle down and create "civilization". That's when it all went downhill.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 11 months ago

We didn't have a lot of say over that. Climate change occurred in South Africa changing forests to savannah.

[–] [email protected] 39 points 11 months ago

Oh well, a rapist tyrant who has committed fraud and compromised national security has a lock on the Republican nomination. I suppose we have to support him, otherwise we might be forced to comply with regulations and make slightly less money.

I’m supposed to read this and think that gutting the EPA is a gift for small business?

Yet another reason to burn Wall Street.

This is like asking the foxes whether they support the chicken rapist.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

They probably wouldn't, though, seeing as they want to eat the chicken. Though I can't rightly say I know what foxes are into.
