It's getting fixed in the next patch.

it's ridiculous how much anxiety i get about work then once i force myself to start working i feel way better in like 5 seconds. look at me i'm Contributing to Society!

But even knowing and experiencing that doesn't make it any easier to start the next time :(

I always feel happier and more relaxed when I've put in a full day of work vs just slacking off all day.

gotta have clouds for the clouds to break

Sometimes it’s literally just do the first, simplest step. Like I’m a web developer, so for me its “okay let’s actually start the editor, and checkout the correct code branch”. Sometimes that’s enough to kick me off, sometimes I’ll have to come back a bit later and just do the next simplest step, but at least I’m moving toward doing what I’m supposed to do rather than just 100% browsing Lemmy

I figured this out when I was writing my bachelor's thesis. Open the latex editor in some tab and I was waaaayy more likely to actually work on it the next time I felt like I should. Otherwise just opening that page felt like an insurmountable step after which i'm clearly too exhausted to do anything else.

Literally doing this right now

I'm in this picture and I don't like it

It hasn't always worked for me, I can't find any solution that consistently works, some days are just complete write offs, however, the Pomodoro Technique has had some success for me.

The tldr is you create a task list of jobs you need to do. Set a timer for 20 minutes and work on the first task in that time, once 20 minutes is up set a timer for 5 minutes, your reward, browse Lemmy, masturbate do whatever you want you've got 5 minutes. Another 20 minute timer for work then another five. After a set of 3 20 minutes take yourself a 15 minute break. Rinse and repeat.

A friend told me to try this and whenever I tried to do it I either started the task then overdid that task and didn't do any others or I was overwhelmed by the thought of starting any of the tasks and didn't do any. I do think it'd be a good thing to get down though I still wanna try to get it right.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

Yeah sometimes I can't even get myself to start the timer or write the task list.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Honestly even thinking about that is so exhausting I think I'm going to go and do some work just to escape it.

Hold on... That could work...

I keep trying to begin again and refocus on work like in meditation refocusing on the breath but it’s not working. Need someone to light a fire under my ass

One of the things I struggle the most. Yet I don't know how to solve this.

* shoves popcorn in mouth * ... I'm in this picture, aren't I?

Might be worth checking on meds or health issues. I have a lot more trouble when I don't get enough sleep or am ill. And have found that I also need to up my meds.
