Former president and frontrunner for Republican 2024 presidential nomination also expected to file own appeal

The Colorado Republican Party has asked the US supreme court to intervene after Colorado’s top court disqualified former president Donald Trump from appearing on the state’s Republican primary ballot, an attorney for the Republican group said.

The appeal comes after the Colorado supreme court last week disqualified Trump because of his role in the 6 January 2021 attack on the US Capitol by his supporters. The court barred Trump under a US constitutional provision prohibiting anyone who “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” from holding public office.

Seems like they should move to another state. Like Texas. Let’s get them all lumped in one spot.

Nah keep those red fucks outta Texas. It sucks enough here already.

Florida then?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Let's deport them

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Fuck that shit. We got enough problems here with the ones we already have!

Good thing the supreme court is stacked in his favour.

Is it though? Lot of originalists. And getting rid of the rule of monarchy was as foundational to the US's independence as it gets. I find it hard to believe the supreme court would elevate someone above the law.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

The so-called "originalists" don't actually give a shit about the Constitution though. Like, there's nothing there that justifies judicial review as a power that SCOTUS is actually supposed to have, but you sure as hell won't see any of these fuckers arguing to curtail it.

"It takes a lot of money to have the constitution interpreted correctly"

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

If the justices are compromised they would.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

The law is whatever the Pope says or whatever guy is willing to give justice Thomas the most money.

Lot of originalists.

There is no such thing.

That's just another excuse they use to justify whatever they want next.

All those justices must realize that if they help this fascist return to power, they will lose their positions, power, and more under the thumb of a narcissistic dictator who doesn't need laws interpreted or upheld. To preserve themselves, SCOTUS must side with the Constitution against this Oath Breaker.

I guess this would be my take as well. "Enlightened Self-interest".

For real. Voting is controlled by the state (apart from discrimination like poll taxes) so why do these traitor sympathizers want the federal government to override the wishes of their state?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

And then everyone wondered a few weeks ago when Justice Clarence “pay for play” Thomas declared that justices don’t make enough money. An obvious dog whistle for the case now before them.
