Current trend? Lolis have been a thing for decades in anime.
Yeah but Ive also noticed it becoming much more prevalent that people arent ashamed of having a drawing of a hypersexualised 16 yo "character" who looks like a 13yo with a boobjob proudly on display. Either on their desktop, car, social media profile...

I think it's more a symptom of anime being an ever increasingly popular medium that it's more prevelent than an actual shift in the themes it always had.
