Was any reason given for the removal?
This was the message from one of the admins of Lemmy.world
Welcome! I'm glad you found a home here.
I wonder if .world will also ban their cannabis_cultivation community, since cannabis and psychedelic mushrooms have a similar legal status in the US - it's legal to possess/cultivate for recreational and medical use in some states, but illegal at the federal level.
Lol you know they won't
Imo, lemmy.world is a super weak instance and the admins there refuse to take a stance against pretty much anything. Seriously, banning a community discussing shrooms?
No, it's a good thing. Lemmy.world is the biggest Lemmy instance right now, and its best that it stay out of controversy. If Lemmy.world dies, Lemmy dies with it.
How is it controversial to allow a shrooms community? Even corporate-reddit allows it
Some people or companies might legally (or indirectly economically) attack lemmy.world for it. I'm just speculating, but any gray area is an easier attack vector in that sense.
This is bullshit. Can't blame them for covering their asses, but I'm certaily not going to contribute more content to their instance and will move to sh.itjust.works now.
In my opinion, this is a mess that Jerboa (or whichever client you use) needs to fix. I should be able to be logged into several instances, see the composite feed (with deduplication) and when posting something choose which instance's account I'm doing it from. Then it's completely immaterial if lemmy.world wants to be a safe space for aww and shit.
I thought prop 122 made shrooms legal in Colorado?
S*** just works is totally cool anyway, the arbitrary illegality of a physically harmless compound seems like such a weak reason to ban a community.
That sucks. I was looking to begin small scale cultivating of commercially viable mushrooms. I'm hoping to do it in a way that I can scale up of I get a good foothold in the local farm to table places.
Ah what? That's lame as hell..
