Russian President Vladimir Putin can choose not to hold presidential elections next year because he will “obviously” win re-election, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said late Sunday.

A while. Putin has been rigging elections for decades. No leader, no matter how beloved, gets like 98% of the vote. And not in Chechnya.

They've been doing the President<->Prime Minister and shifting powers b/t the 2 for a while. So they're just going to drop the pretense of being a democracy and take the really bad rubber mask off and go full dictator. Nothing will really change except some common people's perception. Putin's keys are still held by the oligarchs.
