A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.

- Posts must be original/unique

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Remember your towel protocol:
If you actually clean yourself in the shower this is unnecessary.
I still don't want my face to indirectly contact my own clean butt.
I want my face to directly contact someone else's clean butt.

If it brings people comfort to not use the same towel, it's probably not worth trying to push them away from that habit. It's one thing to know it intellectually, and another to feel off-put by the idea.
It is however very important to push people into cleaning themselves properly. The amout of dirty asses around us at all times is staggering and terrifying.
Are you being paid by e.coli?
They're in a pocket if Big Soap, coercing god fearing christians into cleaning their asses thus making them gay
White for hands, brown for feet, green for torso, thighs and seat. And in the cupboard beneath the stair...

Indeed, it is always wise to be a hoopy frood.
If you're part of the Bidet Master Race and have a stack of mini butt/genitals-towels for use after bidet-ing, the whole towel becomes face-&-body with no worries
All those times the kids at school called me butt-face... look who's complimenting me now. Ha, suckers.
Clean yourself right and anywhere is good
You dry your entire body at the exact same time? I start at my head and work my towel down towards my feet. And then I throw the towel into the laundry.
You use your towel once and throw it into the laundry?
Yes, at least the one I use for showering. But I don't shower daily, to save water.
You could try reusing your towel a few times in order to save even more water, along with some electricity. Just hang it to dry in between.
My washing machine is not using less water because there's less laundry in the drum.
Is it on a fixed schedule?
You should really wait until it's full before doing the laundry... That way you use it less often and use less water.
My two full loads every week is not going to hurt the environment, no matter how much I get downvoted.
In a hotel, sure, I'll reuse towels, but at home, no thanks.
