Wasn't he just a nut who had decided to shoot anyone who was really famous, and Donald just happened to come to town that day?

There are so many things about this timeline that are just dumb. My suspension of disbelief is broken. I want to subscribe to a different one.

Things haven't gotten bad enough for the people crazy and competent enough to take care of the problem to act.

Once they lose all of the money the government gives them (Medicare, Medicaid, VA benefits), they'll be more likely to act.

I do want to note that I'm not saying that being a veteran means you're crazy, there's just enough overlap to make it worth mentioning.

Well give us a little time. As much as I would love for a disruptive resistance to get built in a month, that is a little unrealistic. We will fight/are fighting, just gonna take some time before it changes anything.
