My personal one

IIRC Pushback against "Unsafe at any speed" was the literal origin of the conservative think tank as a political movement. I think Behind the Bastards did an episode on it or maybe Stuff you missed in history class?

It was always Ralph Nader's fault.

(To the down voter: Ralph Nader fought to bring regulations for mandatory seat belts, among other life saving consumer safety issues he had a hand in. Man's a hero. Also, this is a joke. Ffs)

The joke worked for me.

He might have blown the 2000 election for Gore and doomed the planet to runaway global heating.

That was Chad's fault.

(And roger stone, and john Bolton, and the supreme court. And Pat Buchannon who was another 3rd party spoiler whom many ballots were accidentally cast. 20% of his votes came from that single county. Nothing strange at all.)

Which part's a joke? I can't tell which of you think you're being funny.

Seat belts> Ralph Nader, ah fuckit, you're boring and humorless.

I think you overestimate your ability to communicate irony in text-only media.

Sorry I still don't really understand. What does "unsafe at any speed" mean?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's a book by Ralph Nader calling out unsafe vehicle design in the 70's.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Oh damn. I didn't realise just how ahead of his time (by Anglosphere standards) Nader was. We're 50 years on and just now are the evils of motornormativity starting to be more widely understood.

Now you have to explain how they relate.

I added a brief explanation
