I don't think I was selfish before ... Just ignorant and/or sheltered.

I don't think I disagree with your point, but the messaging is unlikely to convert many non voters.

tbf, if they're on a politics com and bragging about not voting, chances are that they're pretty far from where you were at if you were just ignorant and/or sheltered.

I'm just yelling at the choir on Lemmy, I believe. With my actual friends, especially married ones with daughters who say this stuff, I approach it differently. "You always tell me you disdain deadbeat dads, but not voting is another form of failing your daughter. You should be a champion for her rights man, not sitting on the sidelines trying to play nice with 'both sides.'"

I can't believe how apolitical I was before our daughter was born. I mean I'm not even in the US or a man but Jesus fucking Christ having kids makes you so invested into everything that you cannot not be political. It's not even a real choice unless you are, as you phrase it, a deadbeat parent.
