The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

The previous one by The Black Company was too wide to defend against Italy. Let's make this one! I know LEMMY.ML is not the full Lemmyverse but we don't have space for JOIN-LEMMY.ORG now.

To use its template, install the r/place userscript (guide) and go to https://new.reddit.com/r/place/?jsontemplate=https%3A%2F%2Fraw.githubusercontent.com%2FChaoticNeutralCzech%2FmyRandomImages%2Fmain%2FplaceLemmyTemplate.json&screenmode=fullscreen
or if you already have it, import one of these (either the URLencoded one in URL, or the raw one in plugin settings)

There's an ongoing fiasco with the Mali government reclaiming all .ml websites. Fmhy lemmy is already gone as they used a .ml. You may want to link to the org instead, just in case

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Is it related to the news of us military secrets being sent to ml emails?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thats just typo shit. The real reason is the contract ended.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Yeah .ml domains were free but I'm sure that wouldn't last forever.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

The guy that currently runs the .ml registrar is warning the US military that a lot of emails meant for .mil addresses are ending up on mail servers that he currently controls, and will end up in the hands of the Mali government very soon. He set up the navy dot ml and army dot ml domains years ago to intercept and discard those mistyped emails, but is renewing his efforts to contact the US DoD about the issue because he's losing access/control of those servers when the Mali government takes back .ml.

I know, it's better for decentralization to link to the directory. The Black Company tried but they were overrun by Italy. LEMMY.ML is the "shortest" Lemmy link and we cannot fit anything more unless the canvas expands or the very loose Fuck Spez Coalition lends us more space.

Might I suggest lemm.ee? It's pretty short and doesn't have any issues with the Mali government.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

If there can be a consensus between switching to lemm.ee or Kbin, I'd love to lend my pixel to either of those.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I came here to suggest that. Already suggested it in the black company discord and the place join lemmy matrix, seems like the idea is picking up on the place join lemmy matrix

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Stupid question incoming.. what is this lemmy matrix you speak of?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

matrix.to/#/#lemmyplace:data.haus - matrix chat for coordination for lemmy on r/place

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thanks! Never heard of matrix before so will give it a gander!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I had pretty much never heard of it either till this morin, maybe one or two mentions on lemmy.

The only problem might be the 100kb limit for media uploads.

I mean, it's good because it ensures that lemm.ee doesn't run out of storage easily but on the other hand users have to outsource their uploads or reduce their media size.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It'd be pretty good if lemmy instances had built in image compression to save on storage costs for all instances. I hope lemmy devs consider it

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

What org? Not lemmy.org. Join-lemmy.org is too big.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Oh is that where that instance went. Was wondering what happened.
