Yes we have to keep it inclusive. However, it's still not bad that we encourage people to buy as locally as possible.

Isn't that exactly the way Bluesky/ATprotocol works? You can store your account/data wherever your want (PDS) and the Relays/Firehorses are responsible to aggregate posts.

I also like ActivityPub more but Bluesky is definitely easier to use.

I see a lot of posts of people complaining that some import products from the EU are too expensive in their own country - namely there was a viral post about someone from Bulgaria sharing that the German Fritz Cola is 2x more expensive than the US alternatives.

In this movement no one is asking you to buy Fritz, buy Bulgarian alternatives first - I am sure there are plenty of bulgarian cola alternatives.

If you live in Bulgaria (ofc whichever country actually) this is best thing to do:

  1. Buy as local for your city, region you can get (support small companies, mom & pop shops, farmers etc)
  2. Buy generally Bulgarian stuff to support your own economy
  3. Buy EU stuff to support EU economy
  4. Buy Canada or any other ally nation stuff to support good relationship
  5. Buy from USA, China etc (arguably buy Chinese before american)

Ofc the list is just an example on the thought process, you can also make your own list based on your own convictions

Red Bull - European but Far right

Buy European but ... Also with ethical considerations.

Red Bull might sound cool, but they have their own TV station in Austria. (servus TV) And that station js beyond far right. Spreading disinformation, and Russian propaganda, Corona Bullshi, Ivermectint, cleaning stuff with chlorid, climate change deniers, ... If there is a conspiracy they support it ...

(And it's also not very healthy,....)

too big (FP1 was perfect size)

It would be so awesome if they'd release a smaller, maybe like a 5.5 inch phone. I have big hands and still often struggle.

life cycle is fucking short

To be fair that's a problem with all manufacturers. But yes they should provide much longer support. At least 5 years. I'd also happily pay for an extended support after that if it's still working.

not enough focus on LineageOS support

I'd love them to support the project more! Degoogling is still hard. GrapheneOS support would be awesome too.

way too many cameras

I didn't get this trend in the first place. It looks ugly on all phones. Still they keep adding them like their life depends on it.

Raspberry Pi with Plex?

For me they are even better than Google. But I use Qwant now.

Chrome ➡️ Brave - Open source and privacy focused

Search ➡️ Qwant - Good search results and privacy focusing

Photos ➡️ Immich - Pretty much Google Photos but self hosted

Drive ➡️ Nextcloud - Use it with Hetzner Storage Share, pretty cheap and easy to use

Gmail ➡️ mailbox.org - European email hosting focusing on privacy

Meet ➡️ Nextcloud

The cool thing on bluesky is that you can create your own algorithms through custom feeds. Also to my knowledge the following feed is purely chronological.

It's surely not as decentralized and free as Mastodon but it's heck of a lot better than the centralized platforms.
