The funniest part about all of this was that the exit polls were heavily biased against him. Like (last night was hectic so pardon my rounding errors) Nicusor Dan had 55% while this clown had 45% coming out of the exit polls, and yet he STILL claimed he’d won

Then he tried to pull a MAGA stunt and tweeted “I am the president of the romanian people, count the votes correctly!” Before finally conceding victory, all within the span of 3 hours. Needless to say, last night was a bit of a rollercoaster.

For more context, at least how I saw this crapshot of an election, this far-right candidate, Simion, capitalized on the fact that there’s almost 6 million Romanians who’ve left their home country bound for the UK, Italy, Spain, Germany etc. He promised to bring them home, offered 2-room appartments at 35000€ (the Simion Plan he called it), bogus claims, promised to bring back industry into the country etc etc.

Thing is , here in Romania the president has less powers than you might expect. He’s basically responsible for foreign affairs and representation, chief of the millitary and armed forces, and has the power to dissolve Parliment, but that’s about it. So even if he wanted to do the things he claimed he’d do, he couldn’t.

It’s sad to see so many people voted for him. He’s riding off the backs of desperate people, who left families behind because doing, say, construction in Romania barely makes you a living wage. But the cognitive dissonance is what gets me: Simion was mostly voted by Diaspora, or the Romanians living in other countries. How can you, a Romanian living in let’s say Germany, vote for someone who has an isolationist policy, who says “hurr durr EU bad”, while benefitting from all the EU has to offer? It’s simply insane.

…oh , man, that was a wall of text and a half…

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I’m glad no new Elder Scrolls game is coming out. With the enshittification of Bethesda, the announcement of TES6 coming out would just hype everyone only for it to be a buggy, microtransaction-filled trashcan. See Starfield.

I’m more hyped for Skyblivion than for TES6.

You might be right. You might be wrong. But you know what’s not in 4 years? Today. And today the US of A are going down a downhill path that saw the fall of another empire, the Soviet Union.

You wanna shoehorn AI into this? Sure, but good luck trying to run that AI when we’ll either be locked within a trade war or tariffed beyond recognition. I’m not being alarmist, by no means do I want this to happen, I just find it silly when people say “b-b-but AI!” In every discussion and minimize the importance of today for the promise of a future.

Infineon eSW engineer here!

Infineon is more geared towards the automotive sector and less towards hobby. Our tools are mostly designed to evaluate chips which you’ll later use in a design.

However, the PSoC line-up (formerly cypress IP) is a great hobby starter, with easy to understand code configurator, analog blocks (think operational amplifiers, timers, comparators etc) built into silicon and much more. I recommend you give it a shot if you’re ever looking for something of that sort.

You will own nothing, and you will be happy

The day consoles become digital-only is the day I give up console gaming

I am at the point in life where sometimes I genuinely struggle to understand if a news headline is an onion post or not. What a time to be alive.

The author mentions getting tired and having to take rest breaks while driving their normal car. I’d argue that if you’re too tired to drive, you’re way too tired to supervise FSD.

I get it, having a stressful and difficult job followed by a long drive home is hella hard. But at least, when you’re driving, you feel tired. You feel the need to pull over and rest, which is objectivelly more safe. In FSD mode, what happens if you fall asleep? Maybe the car will sense it, but what if you’re dozing off doing microsleep with your eyes open? (i’m not sure how common it is, it happens to me sometimes)

At least in a normal car your feet are on the pedals and hands on the wheel if you doze off. In FSD, you have to add the reaction time of a waking human to the time it takes to move your hands and feet to the wheel and pedals, and then you can apply a correction. It’s… geez.

Have you tried webex? It’s like teams but on dumb-‘roids, the notifications are shot, the messages always pull your taskbar up, calls always get routed to either the wrong input or output, calls drop half the time… and the list goes on and on…

Time and time again questions like these come up, and always go unanswered or ignored, mostly since the very question is wrong. Any computer is a good Linux computer, as well as (maybe kinda) any computer is a good Windows computer.

Instead of asking “is X good for Y”, you should give us more information about your workflow. A thinkpad that is perfect for code editing or general office work is next to useless for CAD work or games.

So, my advice, in future, tell us what you’re looking for. The underlying OS is just a tool for running your programs. Hope this doesn’t come accross as condescending, this isn’t my goal :)

Uncommon in flavor, but a lovely find!
