I see a lot of negative comments, but the sad truth is that resistance needs a political alternative, and Trump won't stop.

So why don't you try to put pressure on Dems so they represent you better? Ask them to take a real political position, publicly. Nobody should give them any money before they do.

This. Even if they don't have any real power in the Senate or the House, they should be fighting and actively resisting on every front.

Protests, occupations, or any other popular movement initiated by the people will serve nothing unless they are clearly supported by the Democrats.

A few Ukrainians I know didn't like him as president before the war but are very proud of what he's doing.

Being a stubborn dick might be a quality when you have to fight an invasion.

France is not like the US. There's no such thing as a party line and party leaders do not have as much influence on members as is the case in the US.

You could have replied with Charles de Gaulle's Wikipedia page and it wouldn't have been less relevant.

(Btw this means you don't know what you are talking about)

In the future, please try to verify if what you're saying is true before you post. It make you look like a troll.

This is exactly why Poilievre wants to defund CBC.

I don't think it's a distraction, Trump's been talking about tariffs since he took office. And besides it seems clear he doesn't give two shits about what people say.

Trump and co have 2 years (until the midterms) to bankrupt the US, let Bezos, Musk and Thiel buy whatever is left that can turn a profit (energy, utilities, etc.) and put loyalists in charge of the election in key states.

See USSR in the 90s.

If Democrats had some sort of plan against what's happening, they would ALL be saying this, over and over, to all journalists in every news organization and podcast.

They should lead the pushback but they look like spectators.

This. There's a real possibility Trump never gets to the end of his 4 year mandate, and the Silicon Valley oligarchs knew this so they put their guy in the vp seat.

An interesting read, but the author is very quick to jump to conclusions. I don’t see how an appetite-suppressing drug could have an effect on any other form of impulsive buying. And even if it did, assuming that 100% of users would completely stop all impulsive purchases is rather extreme.

Furthermore, like any medication, it seems to have numerous side effects, including an increased risk of anxiety disorders or depression, which could seriously hinder its adoption.

But this kind of no holds barred futurism isn’t very surprising coming from Hacker News!
