To start with I hate to be the bearer of bad news but a substantial percent of humans are violent by nature, which means there is no amount of logical debate that will convince someone to not take your things or your life. This transcends to the national level which is why every peaceful nation in history has an army, for self-defense.

No. A mafia makes you pay "protection" from the things they'll do to you if you don't pay. A government makes pay taxes for a very real threat of what other nations and people within your nation will do without that security they provide. They also build roads and bridges and fire departments, water towers and plumbing, and other things necessary for a civilized world.

I'd actually argue the opposite. Religion reigns in bad people. Talk to a religious person, wait until you hear them say something like, "but if there's no god and no afterlife, what's to stop people from murder and rape?" That's all that's holding them back from total anarchy, the threat of eternal suffering and damnation, only for some it's still not enough.

Difference is you get down votes for speech and not a prison sentence or sent to the front lines of a war meat grinder. Just for some perspective that you apparently need.
