i also prayed that my school would burn down in the middle of the night multiple times but that never happened but at least i had an xbox

[-] [email protected] 34 points 3 months ago

one time in middle school i prayed for an xbox and a couple weeks later a boy who had a crush on me (but i didnt know that at the time) gave me his old original xbox and fable: tlc as he upgraded to a newer xbox. so ya religion is pretty nifty 😎

literally during a conversation with Neil deGrasse Tyson, Ben Shapiro brought up trans people because of course he did i mean he seems obsessed with them, and while Neil's take on everything was generally a verbal shrug of the shoulders, paraphrasing: "Trans people exist and we should work to understand and accept them and we shouldn't legislate to restrict people's rights especially based on fear and made up nonsense" and Ben Shapiro smiled and said "Well if people want rights they should beat me in a debate" I'm sure he'd say he was joking but I'll probably never forget it, like wow Ben tell us how you really feel

one of the main reasons i stopped playing MMOs is that everyone takes end game stuff super seriously and i just don't find it fun to be lectured on what i'm doing wrong and which meta build i should follow instead :(

the Twitter subreddit has been constantly full of people complaining about the changes to Twitter for the last few months lol. i can't imagine having access to that and thinking that copying Twitter is a good idea or something that would be popular

update: March 07, 2024: this is not the first time i updated this style, but i just came back to Lemmy from a pretty long break, and i noticed a couple things were broken and since "Browser Default" still isn't automatically changing my theme with my system theme, i decided to go ahead and update it. this style now works regardless of whether you have a light theme or a dark theme selected in your settings, and i fixed all the broken stuff that i noticed

https://userstyles.world/style/10392/skys-lemmy-tweaks

original post:

i personally sometimes found it a little hard to visually distinguish between comments in really long threads so i made this simple userstyle that remedies the problem for me by adding a semi-transparent background to comments.

you can use this css with a browser extenion like Stylus (officially supports Chrome and Firefoxx and can be installed on most popular Chromium-based browsers including Edge, Vivaldi, and Opera) once you have Stylus installed you can go here and click the "install" button to automate the installation of my css. otherwise you can copy the css below and paste it into a new style in Stylus

my instance also doesn't automatically change light/dark theme based on browser/system preferences (i'm under the impression some other instances can do that) so this userstyle also changes to light or dark theme based on system preference, it's made to override Lemmy light themes so you'll have to manually apply a light theme in your Lemmy settings for the color switching to work properly (the comment contrast feature should work either way, though.)

the css should work for all instances of Lemmy, but i didn't add the url for all instaces cuz of i was lazy. i did add a few of the most popular instances and the instance i use, though. if you want you can ask me to add your instance and i will, or you can just add it yourself in Stylus.

ok thx bai

I just made an account, this is my first post. hai!!

I've used Reddit for almost a decade across multiple accounts and I'm looking for a new aggregator to lurk on cuz like many other ppl I'm not super happy with changes Reddit's making to their API

  1. Is there a way for me to organize, like, collections of communities like Reddit's custom feeds/multireddits? This was the main thing that made Reddit useable for me, as I have many interests that I fall in and out of in cycles, and it was easier to just browse my multireddits with the content I was interested in seeing at any given time instead of browsing r/all or browsing a feed of all the subreddits I was subscribed to.

  2. is there a way to stop post feeds from automatically updated when there are new posts? often when i'm about to click on a post, the feed updates, and the post i was about to click on gets pushed down and i end up clicking on something else that i didn't want to click on. I would rather it not do that personally.

thx :3
