This right here is the correct answer. The average American is a little bit stupid but generally speaking, the reason why we are is because our education system sucks shit and we are bombarded with conflicting misinformation from literally all angles, constantly. Foreign actors lie to us just as frequently as our own government and corporations do. Truth has become a precious and rare commodity and is frequently discarded out of hand when it is found because the education system hasn't taught most of us how to challenge our own assumptions.

Most people aren't stupid, they're misguided. As in, led astray, purposefully.

Jerboa was real bad back then. Like, bad enough that I shelled out cash money to purchase Sync for Lemmy, which was another different old reddit front-end that now pivoted to Lemmy.

Overall though I'm now actually a big fan of Sync. It's a good app. Does all that it needs to and not much more.

ReVanced has a project for it. It's janky, but it works. For now.

It is quite done except for bug fixes. Wube released it like a kraken, all at once and with like double the content of the base game.

It's less than six months old and has its own dedicated shelf.... I did think to check that, but no, it came right out of the box being this loud.

Now that I think about it though, I haven't seen any other PS5s in person to compare, so for all I know I just have a bad unit.

Depends on the person. I've been told to my face without a hint of irony that "you're so open minded all your brains fell out".

She's 78 and not only checks her email but maintains a WordPress? She is more tech savvy than anyone else her age. Give gramma some credit here.

Conflicting information that keeps people confused and afraid is beneficial for an authoritarian regime

Thing is if they do that there and we don't do it everywhere at once, the corporations will just move their operations to some other state with a better tax rate and then LA is left with nobody to employ their citizens.

I want to be very clear that I'm not condoning this but the reason this continues so readily is because this keeps the corporations operating in their area. A little bit of tit for tat and money under the table ensures that the labor pool in your area stays employed, at a bit of cost to the people's well being and the federal coffers. If you just crank up the business tax rates suddenly then within 5 years all the big businesses will be gone. That might be a good thing long term but it's going to be a very very bad thing short term.

Allowing states to dictate their own tax rates was a trap that we walked fully into and now I don't see a way out of it without discarding that and taking over control of that federally. Which is something that will never ever fly in American politics.

I'm a little bit stoned and it took me like 2 solid minutes and several rereads to figure out what the fuck this was, and I still think it's just buzzword salad
