what confuses me a lot about america is how a lot of people will defend the AI's "right" to steal training data to learn (education)

when there's millions of students out there going into life long debt to go to collage, and none of the same americans are fighting for their right to learn for free

anti creative ๐Ÿ’€ i don't even know what to say to this... i hope you get better soon

the difference is that the people who make pngs of singular objects/animals mean for those images to be used by others.

AI companies force feed algorithms with everything they can find, permission from the creators or not

oh thank goodness. An image of students typing their notes with the on screen keyboard flashed in my mind and i was scared

i am an artist, i actually create things regularly, on various levels of effort.

because plagiarism is bad. and wasting water is also bad. as it is today AI is not ethical in the slightest.

read about it before you decide to make a clown out of yourself

if you can't say anything nice, it's okay. Don't say anything at all.

i'd rather receive negative feedback and know what to improve than no feedback at all and be clueless as to why people don't care about my works.

using the plagiarism machines to generate things for you is widely frowned upon in every creative industry

countless hours? find three .pngs in google, a pangolin, a chair, and a desk. put them together in something barely more advanced than paint (so opacity is preserved), and it's done. time to learn that skill: 10min max, time to use that skill after the initial learning time: 2min per image

it doesn't have to be good, it doesn't have to be drawn, it can be 3 pictures smushed together that's okay, what it does have to be, in my opinion, is made by a person. Not a glorified plagarism water boiler

sadly there are no stealth edits on lemmy, even if you hit edit the second you posted your comment to fix a typo it's going to show up
