Has anyone understood and is using <memory_resource> in C++17..?

I can confirm that Ninjish Guy runs on the Atari 7800!

@[email protected] Just search eBay... They are really straight forward. Bridge the solder jumpers, measure the pads to see if it worked -> done! :)

I learned about these neat USB boards. I think I will use one in 9V mode for the Atari 7800 as an alternative means of powering it. It might fit in one of the existing cutouts.

@[email protected] there are some games with battery backup. Ocarina of Time comes to mind. But also a handful more:

https://consolemods.org/wiki/N64:List_of_Nintendo_64_Games_with_Save_Batteries

This is Pilotwings 64 for the N64. It uses an unusual little EEPROM for savegames. I think I almost liked it better when they used battery backed SRAM.

The opened cartridge exposing a very small PCB with the usual CIC copy protection chip. A small 8 pin DIP EEPROM and the main DIP28 ROM chip.

I just tried RType II on the GameBoy for the first time. It’s hard. Or I am not very good at it. Looks great though! But it also slows down a lot when there are many enemies and the ship as some powerups!

There is hardly a controller that screams so much SciFi and also retro at the same time as the Atari Pro Line joysticks.

@Toxic_[email protected] Amiga 500s are relatively easy to repair. Quite a bit more complicated than a C64 but still very well documented. You will fix it for sure!

@Toxic_[email protected] @[email protected] Well, who knows... I might have something in my video pipeline...

@[email protected] Q14... saw that. Didn't know you meant it as a joke...

@Toxic_[email protected] @[email protected] And I say the Amiga with an MT-32 would also have been okay! And sounded much better than Paula! 😄

@[email protected] You mean 2nd quarter of 1992, right? 9212 would probably mean 12th week of 1992.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

@[email protected] Oh yeah, I LOVE the SID! I should have specified PC / MS DOS

This is THE sound of 1980s computer games, or in this case mid 1992…

There seems to be a WIP project to port Larry 1 to the C64. The AGI engine by Sierra famously never supported the C64, contrary to the early Lucas SCUMM games. The author describes the challenges of porting AGI games:

What‘s your favorite Sierra game from the 80s to early 90s? I think for me it’s probably Space Quest III. It‘s a very short game, and not a great game, but I have a lots of nostalgia for it.

Blockout was one of the first games I played in the PC, a 286 back then. California Dreams didn’t make many games, and this one stood out due to its high res EGA graphics.

The game‘s box but for the Amiga. Many 3D Tetris shapes are stacked on top of each other, with hands clinging to one of them, suggesting the player being overwhelmed.
