This is Pilotwings 64 for the N64. It uses an unusual little EEPROM for savegames. I think I almost liked it better when they used battery backed SRAM.

The opened cartridge exposing a very small PCB with the usual CIC copy protection chip. A small 8 pin DIP EEPROM and the main DIP28 ROM chip.

@[email protected] As far as I’m aware, all N64 carts use I2C EEPROMs for saves. But funnily enough, the Memory Paks are battery-backed SRAM. I’m guessing that’s so they could share BOM with Game Boy carts.
