History simply affords too little evidence that anyone’s individual protest is of any use. Protest that endures, I think, is moved by a hope far more modest than that of public success: namely, the hope of preserving qualities in one’s own heart and spirit that would be destroyed by acquiescence.

When the fears hit, I am always vaguely comforted that no matter what happens in the world, I will still have opportunities to act with love, and that's the least and the best anyone at any time can do.

Neat, almost 3d effect

I thought I would miss things or be tempted by them so much more than actually happened. My own cooking is still not as tasty to me as before, but I've got enough of a repertoire of good meals to be comfortable with it. Main thing is I am pretty much never excited about restaurants anymore...

Great timing

You're the one giving them money every day for sugar water. I just said to maybe stop?

Ok, but you don't get to act disappointed if you never had any expectations.

I'm not trying to change billions of people's habits, just a few that I know and love :)

But, I don't think I'm alone.

Where is the button I push to dissolve CocaCola? Our pure hatred isn't going to do it.

Everyone wishes they could somehow multiply their own influence over the world, but being just one person is no reason to give in and do what they told you.

Voting once a year with a Coke in your other hand is a recipe for status quo.

The world will get warmer and the weather crazier, but there are still upsides to intelligent predictions and coordinated response. You should prepare for the worst, but the not-worst also requires preparation.

I'm just going to be unpopular for a minute here and say if you find yourself drinking out of single use disposable containers everyday, take some time to see if you can change that, even a little bit.

The future "goals" listed here are so lame I don't think you can pretend there's a sustainable way for billions of people to have that habit.

I agree drivers got crazy after the pandemic. I haven't been in the bay area since then and maybe my remembered experience just doesn't exist anymore.

What does he think we've been paying them this whole time?

I'm not suggesting you go blindly, but it's common practice to step off the curb -- they don't have to pay any attention to you at all until you do. My practice is to avoid eye contact until I'm really in front of them, but obviously if they aren't stopping you don't keep walking.
