According to their Github issue tracker, they're aware and are working to fix it (based on the pull request)!

The lemmy software is still a bit rough. It can only get better though, we all just need a little patience (or to contribute if we're able) 😊

As far as I know, I don't believe there's an FAQ that explains these issues. I could be wrong though!

There were legitimate reasons from a design standpoint. It's badly balanced, the spacing is inconsistent...and it was everywhere.

Funny enough, I suspect what makes it a badly designed font might be why some people with dyslexia have an easier time reading with it. The badly balanced, poor spacing, probably made the letters in the font more distinguishable from one another.

If you (or anyone else that's interested) have the time, I think this article, "Why You Hate Comic Sans," goes over all of it pretty well.

And the amount of times we hear people trying to get out of paying the artist or designer...it really put me off trying to freelance as an artist (not to mention the anxiety making art brought me lately...)

Congrats, @[email protected]!

The transparency of expenses really helps bolster trust and it's awesome we're compensating an artist for their work! Gives a little bit of hope.

Yes, diversity and variety in creative expression is most welcome!

Really like how minimal yet expressive your partner's works are 😁

I'll probably take some flak for my answers, but here I go!

Undertale

Maybe I would've loved it if I had got to the game before the fandom madness got to me. But to be fair, it looks like it's visually designed to tap into that 80's nostalgia, which would've bore me anyway.

Destiny 2

I used to enjoy that game (and Destiny). Played it way more than I'd like to admit. But as my anxiety got worse, the more I abhorred the way they force you into matchmaking for PvE content, then give you all kinds of reasons why you have to do those PvE content where you're forced to play with random players. Then there's the changes Bungie had made that made the game more and more hostile to me on a mechanics level. Lately, it also feels like they're treating Destiny 2 as a money-printing machine.

Diablo 4

Because Blizzard. I had a whole rant but I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. I simply will not give Blizzard any money moving forward.

These are great! Would make it easier to spot Beehaw communities among the others when I look through Subscribed or All from time to time.

I might spend a little bit of time and play around with the site's styling, see if we can make it match the icons a bit. Have an even more cohesive design.

The reasons aren't documented anywhere, as far as I know. But it's not hard to guess based on the site's philosophy.

Generally, they're blocked because they harbour and encourage users that exhibit toxic or bigoted behaviour in one form or another. They tend to be the type that would look at Beehaw's philosophy and scoff at it for whatever reason.

There might be some things I missed, but that's the short of it. Hope that helps!

I doubt this is niche to most of us in this community, but it's possible very few of us consider using a terminal on our mobile devices. I highly recommend Termux (Github, F-Droid). It's really handy if you need to self-host a web-app for times you have no wifi or data connection. You can play interactive fiction on it. You can also do your writing in it. If you rely on swipe typing or auto-complete, you can just swipe left and get an input field that works with those.

To pair with my first suggestion, I also like to put forth Unexpected Keyboard (Github, F-Droid). For the times when I need to write some code on my phone, having quick access to certain symbols without having to tap a specific button, and maybe having to tap it again, is really nice. The "swipe to corner" feature takes some getting used, but for me, it's been way faster and makes writing code on my phone bearable!

I spend an almost embarrassing amount of time here, might as well put that to productive use! I put my name in the hat 😊

The allegation section of the post is...wild. Good thing the dev had the presence of mind to record it. The audacity of the CEO to lie about what went on in the call...well, I guess I'm not surprised by that, but more surprised he got caught!

But I guess ultimately, how many people are going to hear about how easily Reddit's CEO will lie through his teeth? How many will care? It's kind of depressing to think about πŸ˜₯

I'm planning on two solo campaigns, one with EDGE Studio (originally Fantasy Flight Games) Star Wars RPG. A mix of both Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, and Force and Destiny further down the road. But I plan on running it during the Old Republic era. I quite enjoy playing the SWRPG/Genesys system. I know the narrative dice is hard to get behind for some people but I prefer it. It feels a bit more transparent what you'll get, plus it's fun to roll a lot of dice so there's that tactile aspect to it too 😁

The second campaign is with Ironsworn: Starforged. I actually want to use this solo game as a basis for my web serial that I want to write in the near future. The system is built with solo play in mind, but it can be played co-op or guided by a GM. IIRC, the original basis of the system was PbtA, heavily modified. Ironsworn was what introduced me to the concept of playing a TTRPG solo! Which was awesome, considering my previous experiences playing a TTRPG with a group keep falling apart for one reason or another...

I also want to try City Without Numbers, the cyberpunk variant of World Without Numbers and Stars Without Numbers. I backed it on Kickstarter and sorta waiting for a slightly more complete version before I dive in. Again, it's something I plan on running solo as well...

I am considering a play-by-post game, likely with the Ironsworn: Starforged system. Largely because of the nature of PbtA games, which tends to give and encourage more agency to players. Plus the support for running it co-op means ideally, no one is relied on as the GM, constantly having to respond to a player's inquiry or action before anyone else can move forward.
