The allegation section of the post is...wild. Good thing the dev had the presence of mind to record it. The audacity of the CEO to lie about what went on in the call...well, I guess I'm not surprised by that, but more surprised he got caught!

But I guess ultimately, how many people are going to hear about how easily Reddit's CEO will lie through his teeth? How many will care? It's kind of depressing to think about 😥

That kind of lying could easily be seen as slander or libel, but I'm no lawyer. It wouldn't surprise me if legally that was a Bad Move for spez either way, but ultimately it doesn't look like the apollo dev has any intention of suing for that, understandably so.

Yeah, it seems like Christian is making peace with Apollo coming to an end and just wants to cut ties with Reddit now. Which is fair enough. He almost certainly doesn't have the funds to match Reddit's legal team, so why bother?

It's a damn shame though. The app devs have been treated abominably by Reddit.

spez is a very special specimen.

There will be a mass exodus. Just how much of am impact it will have on Reddit will depend on how many leave the platform.
I don’t ingest Reddit on the web. It’s on mobile. So I refuse to use their canobalized app. And going to this extreme within 30 days?

My exodus was this morning. Glad to be here!

Mass exodus will only happend if there's a concrete alternative ready to welcome the refugees. Let's hope Lemmy is able to handle the traffic spike.

End of an era.

This will cause a mass exodus. And apollo isn't the only one.

I'm absolutely sure, RIF on Android is Reddit for me, I couldn't imagine it any other way. I'm liking what I'm seeing here, refreshingly different and reminds me of the better bits of Usenet and old message boards... A real sense of community

Yeah I'm coming from boost. No need to wait for an announcement or the next ring of the admin circus... The time is now! They'll have to learn the hard way that attention is a very liquid asset.

Same. Came from boost.

Looking at my App Store purchases, I downloaded Apollo on 23rd October, 2017. That was the day Christian took the app out of beta and put it out there publicly. And I've used that app almost every day since.

On the 1st of July I'll delete it with sadness in my heart, and rage at how the greed of capitalism eventually kills everything we love.
