None of our bank accounts really pay interest, 0.01% come on.

? It was pretty clear that the male characters' behaviour was not being celebrated. Porco is troubled and self-hating, and Curtis and the pirates are explicitly villains. Sexism is real so I think depiction of it is necessary, so long as it's not applauded or encouraged. I might even use it as a start point for talking about misogyny with my daughters one day.

Rip deathwatch. I mean the rules already pretty much made them a flavour of regular marines, but here it is cemented.

They want Westminster to be disfunctional. That's the path towards independence. They're actively opposed to progressive wins. This goes both ways BTW, Labour won't ally with them either. Structurally adversarial politics is crap. Only electoral reform will make it possible for natural allies to actually work together (on the issues where they align).

Yeah rog not crashing all race would have been more surprising.

It was going so well with the low dropout rate 😬. Will be devastating for the edition if we don't get to see pog/Jonas play out because of injury.

"derisking" is just making explicit the agency problems that came to light in the financial crisis. If private money isn't being rewarded for bearing some of the risk, what is it for? Such a stupid idea.

To be honest I don't think you can really see when they're doing it right unless you've got professional aerodynamics experience. ITT is terrible to watch on TV (but great in person).

I find even highlights a pretty hard watch. Wish they would do KOM segments or a flying kilo for sprint points to spice it up for some of the 95% of riders that don't have anything at stake.

I wish I didn't. Manosphere bilge.

"keep your head down". I challenge you to go out on your bike and ride looking directly down for even one minute, let alone 29. The focus to hold a precise body shape when utterly exhausted, against all self-preservation instinct, is a mental skill that even the greatest struggle with. Go watch Dan bigham go toe to toe with Philippo Ganna on the track. Ganna is 10 times the athlete, but it's close because Dan has laser focus and unparalleled attention to detail.

That’s before we even touch cornering which is every bit as skillful as motorsport and can make many seconds of difference easily on a course like yesterday.

Honestly I'm still baffled as what he was able to produce yesterday. I don't know how expectations went from serious doubts whether he could win at all to suggestions he's a favourite for all sprint stages, but her we are.

I will always wish he got 35 on the champs elysees in '21 and rode off into the sunset, and will never forgive lefevre for the snub in '22. This time line is mad. How can a 39yo do that?
