Most people are some combination of lazy, uninformed, stressed, and stupid. Can't think long term, just trying to get to tomorrow.

I do live in a city and wouldn't have it any other way.

You don't consume movies books television music art? Variety of food?

I recognize that some people want to be hermits but that makes me uneasy. But like, whatever, it takes all kinds I guess. Not a fan of subsidizing anti social behavior though. Lots of roads and highways and shipping and such to support people living in isolation.

I don't want to play on a switch though. If I play on my computer, that's a platform that's going to be around for ages. And had no subscription fees.

If they sold emulators on steam or gog I would probably pay a reasonable amount for them. But they don't, so I pay nothing.

After COVID we have to retire "avoid like the plague". Too many people were happy to go to plague gatherings.

Conservatism is "there must be outgroups for the law to bind but not protect, and in groups for the law to protect but not bind" manifests again, here.

People are interesting. People produce culture. Cities are where people are. Cities are always going to be more interesting and more cultural.

You want to start a band in nowhere, Utah? Ok, well, you're going to have a lot fewer people interested in joining or watching than a city of any size.

Some stuff might move online. But I'm reminded of an interview I read during the pandemic. Someone was asked "what can I do at an in person party I can't do online?". The other person replied, "fuck people." So there's that. In-person social stuff matters.

So like yeah I guess it might be cheaper but it's probably going to be less interesting just because there's fewer people around.

What an asshole

More tech workers should unionize so they can say "fuck you" to this kind of idiocy.

Do you mean clinically depressed or just unhappy with life?

I know a couple people who are clinically depressed. They take medication for it. It helps.

Most people I know seem to be doing more or less okay. Not counting like stress about climate change and the political landscape and what not. But like one friend just did a nice trip with his partner, another guy I know just had a nice birthday party, another person's enjoying her new job, etc etc.

Well you certainly lived up to your name.

And storming off is certainly one way to deal with people questioning if your generalizations have any validity, but I don't think it's the best way.

There's also the Wilmington insurrection , if you like reading about coups in the US

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilmington_massacre

The Wilmington insurrection of 1898, also known as the Wilmington massacre of 1898 or the Wilmington coup of 1898,[6] was a coup d'état and a massacre which was carried out by white supremacists in Wilmington, North Carolina, United States, on Thursday, November 10, 1898.[7] The white press in Wilmington originally described the event as a race riot caused by black people. In later study from the 20th century onward, the event has been characterized as a violent overthrow of a duly elected government by a group of white supremacists.[8][9]

So if I find one woman who disagrees with your claim ("women hate indicating consent"), you'll concede your argument is faulty? Because I've known several.

If you modify your argument to "Some women..." then that's slightly more defensible , but not really meaningful because there's all sorts of people. You could probably find someone who believes anything.

If you want to say "most women" then you're going to need to show your work.

I tried it a bit with my reaper in pve and it seemed okay, but I wasn't doing anything challenging that really put it to the test. I haven't tried the others classes yet.

Currently, I'm polite to friendly with all of them. No outstanding conflicts. It's sometimes literal kitchen table poly with one, and the others I only see at like parties and such.

Some years ago I had two partners that absolutely did not get along with each other, and that was rough. Recently I was able to do a dinner with 3 partners and everyone had a good time.

I try not to make a big deal about folks meeting. I try to model after meeting your friend's friends.

For me there's a bit of a network effect where the polycule sprawls out into the distance. Partners have partners who have partners.

But for disconnected folks, it's mostly been tinder (yuck), and a local meetup.

(Also this might be the first post? That or nothing federated yet)

I'm looking for players for a weekly game of Fate. I'm thinking something like a mix of Shadowrun and World of Darkness, where the players are vigilantes looking to make the world better. It would start (and maybe stay) at the street level, rather than global or cosmic.

I've been playing and running games for 20+ years.

LGBT friendly. New players okay. Unreliable players less so.

Message me if you're interested. Include a blurb about yourself, your experience with games, with fate specifically, and a joke of your choosing.

Like I saw one that was titled "I wonder why rule" and had a picture about overpaid CEOs or something.

Why "rule"? What's the origin of this format?
