Here are the main reasons listed by Microsoft:

  • A local account is created on the device and doesn't require Internet connectivity to sign in. It's independent of other services, and it's not connected to the cloud. Your settings, files, and applications are limited to that single device
  • A Microsoft account, on the other hand, is associated to an email address and password that you use with Outlook.com, Hotmail, Office, OneDrive, Skype, Xbox, and Windows. When you sign in to your PC with a Microsoft account, you’re connected to a Microsoft cloud service, and your settings and files can sync across various devices. You can also use it to access other Microsoft services

It’s apparently not introducing the “benefits”.

I'm planning to put Debian-based operating system onto my Surface Laptop Gen 1, following the guide (linux-surface). Any good Debian-based Linux recommendations? For now I'm considering AntiX (lightweight debian) and normal Debian.

P.S. I’ve installed pure Debian, as everyone suggests. Thanks for advice!

I’ve been using NetNewsWire before I moved to Windows. It’s perfect as long as you’re in the Apple ecosystem.

Now that I moved to Windows (I was forced to), I can’t use iCloud to sync rss feeds and favorite articles. I’ve tried feedly but it sucks. I ended up using Outlook, but it doesn’t sync with its iPhone app. Is there any free way to do this, hopefully using opensource software? Syncthing doesn’t work on iOS, by the way.

I don’t think Bluesky is better than any instance on Fediverse, but we need to make changes I guess.

Still Privacy >> Censorship. If the search engine is privacy-friendly then we can talk about censorship. No brave bullshit
