Like almost every other mode of transportation, flying in a helicopter is considerably more dangerous than airline travel. But it's far safer than riding in a car.

Helicopter travel is, using our metric, slightly more dangerous than mass transit, but we can broadly say they're in the same safety band.

My main deciding factor was I think having a "pocket watch" is cooler than a wrist watch.

It's not enough that they need to work all year and deal with angry parents over every F. Now they need to be infotainment competing for attention with anything a kid can find on their cell phone.

Even if you put it in terms of money, they'll often remain willfully ignorant if the truth hurts their egos. Somewhere deep down, there's a terrifying suspicion that they're frauds who produce nothing of value.
