There are some phenomenal rebalances and new stories for the original PS1 (and PSP if you prefer) engine.
FFT 1.3 is legitimately challenging (there's an easy mode that's worth playing too), ungimps the AI, and makes some fights quite hard. It completely rebalances classes to make them all useful and interesting.
The way Karmic dice works, it's not helping you with combat unless you're fighting a really high AC character or trying to bypass a high save. It's just even out your rolls if you're failing a lot then it makes success more likely, if the enemy fails a lot it will help them (so a really high AC build will actually get worse with Karmic Dice on.
Leave it on if you want everyone to succeed more often, turn it off if you want the rolls to be accurate.
The dice will be "fair" either way as they apply to all rolls, enemy and any alike.
This is the perfect kind of thing to add to your game. Minimal effort on your part, players love it, and they'll come up with something awesome you can run with later.

On the other hand, they have no draft picks, so they might as well. They're screwed unless PG and Kawhi both stay healthy, which has to be a 5% chance at best, but if they don't sign them what are they going to do, build through free agency? They would be letting go of the two best free agent options.
They're screwed either way, might as well ride it out and hope for one healthy season. Maybe play hardball and see if you can get them to take minor pay cuts, team option in the last year, etc.
