The technology, which I didn't get to--my bad it was 1:30am, has to do with being awakened by my phone sending me an alert to the possibility of 90mph winds along with possible flooding due to very heavy rains.

It might not seem like much to you, but when you live in a very rural area in the middle of a forest, we don't get the niceties of more urban folks. Ignoring the years I spent as a medic and fire fighter in this area and getting my pager pinged for every weather watch from the county dispatch, (information the general populous doesn't get), This is a new thing for us. Now, if only cell service wasn't so poor here even more people could get such warnings.

And my automatic backup generator is still running and powering my house. A bit of tech kit you probably don't need, but I do. So my lights are on, the air conditioning is working and so is my electric kettle to make tea. It might be all day or longer before the co-op can restore power.

This is interesting. Soval has become the budget open source brand. While everyone else is trying to prevent the competition from stealing ideas, Soval has been the contrarian and has been very up front about their desire to be open source.

I have 3 concerns:

First, advertised speeds are never what you can get in the real world. Due to the constant need for changing directions while actually printing. The machines can seldom get enough distance to reach their full speeds. 40,000mm/sec^2^ means little if the best you can get is 5000mm/sec^2^ due to all the short moves. So I'll be curious to hear of what the real speeds are from consumers out in the real world.

Secondly, Soval does not have the best reputation for QC and responsiveness to problems. And they do have problems. It appears you can't expect Prusa or Bambu level support if disgruntled users can be believed.

And finally, do you really need that print volume at a consumer level? Just how many life sized Mando helmets or Dwyane The Rock Lobsters are you going to print? At $1200, (projected street price), that is a lot of money to spend for a machine that might get used to capacity once or twice over the years you might own it.

Been a long time since we have had chickens. But We did try a product that made the same claims. It didn't really work in my opinion.

Best to have fresh greens and insects for them to hunt and not to over crowd them.

Just got awakened by my phone due to a severe thunderstorm warning. We got high winds and heavy rain right now. Lots of lightening. Living in the middle of a forest can be interesting at times. Ahh, the auto generator just kicked on.

I'm pretty sure Bambu wants the files as sliced by Studio just like everything else there. They want the machine profiles for users to download and print. Right down to the color of the filaments for the FDM stuff.

Sometimes I think the world should just let them kill each other until they simply can't anymore.

I understand engineering and scaling production. As an engineer who did things like that, I have some experience in that area. How long have they been making non meat products? A fair number of years now isn't it? So how much longer? Months, years, decades? It's always a "2 years away" that never gets here.

Like I said, until you can make it cheaper and faster, it's not going to be much more than a curiosity for the wealthy.

It would appear you are now trapped by Bambu into their product system.

May God ha' Mercy on your Soul.

If a throw down on cool and even more old and useless skills learned in schools is what you want, I'm for today. Not only did I need to learn learn about the Dewey Decimal System and cursive hand writing, (as a lefty I was nearly forced to learn to write right handed in school), but I had to learn how to use a slide rule. Calculators weren't around until I was about 17. Now everyone carries one and can't do any math.

Television as a working concept was solidly in place by the 1920s. They just needed to agree on a standard, make the tech cheap enough, and get broadcast stations built. Had WW2 not interrupted things, we might have had television as a bigger commercial thing sooner than the 1950s/1960s. The clipping does look like the style of Popular Science or Popular Mechanics of the 1930's era though.

So horses and Harley Davidson motorcycles have that in common since they most often seen riding on a trailer?

As much as I'm all for lab produced meats, I'm against the price to buy it. Lab grown salmon is cool and all that, but until it's cheaper than farm raised salmon, (most of what you can buy in a grocery store), it's merely something for wealthy people to eat to make themselves feel better about themselves. And not something the poor can easily afford or even access.

And this is an issue with all Eco-friendly products from lab grown meats to EV's to solar panels, None of those things do the average plebe any good.

To paraphrase a TV show,

:The head office asked me to identify the differences between these two pictures. They are the same.
