Agh Plex always rubs me the wrong way.... It acts like closed source software as much as is possible. Went with Jellyfin and it's been great. But haven't tried music.

It might could be worth it if you're doing a shorter flight and just don't have baggage but that's rare.

Let's say the summer average is 30⁰C or 303.15 Kelvin

The absolute coldest possible temperature is -273.15⁰C, or 0K.

Halfway between absolute zero and 30⁰C/303.15K is somewhere around -121⁰C/152K

So if it were half as hot in the summer, it would be colder than ever recorded on earth.

I think in this case prohibition should work fine...

The alternative is just... Get a non-disposable one and learn a bit of maintenance. Jesus.

I think it's both true that baby talk is good for infants and that people infantilize children for far longer than they should

The 9800X3D will likely be one of the best gaming CPUs around but wait for reviews obviously, it may not necessarily be worth the money over the current king - the 7800X3D. Early leaks showing it may be 10% or less improvement in games.

AMD CPUs have been the no brainer for gaming PCs for a hot minute. GPUs too, if money is an issue at all. Nvidia still has the absolute highest performance but the cost on their cards are just not worth it.

Just got a 5700X3D as a final upgrade to my AM4 board. Great upgrade. Wanted a 5800X3D but they're almost impossible to find so the 5700X3D was only 5% lower in most scores and only about $200. Also got two more 8GB sticks of RAM and a 7800XT to replace my 5700(GPU) non XT

That should get me through this decade I think

Yeah that kind of thing also reinforces gender binary.

I thought people in this thread were talking about not scrubbing the inside of the machine walls and I could relate.

This comment made me realize people meant they just don't clean the basket... What the fuck

Like, if I make something that doesn't leave any significant residue I might dump the crumbs and use it again but even a little oil and it's getting cleaned.

But seriously I'm running WefWef on my instance... (app.thelemmy.club) and it seems like I have to git pull and build it twice a day!

I might automate it, as long as there's no conflicts with my minor changes. Lmao

Great work!

I don't know if you've heard of the EXCELLENT web app for lemmy over at https://WefWef.app

Not that I don't trust WefWef or their team! But now users of thelemmy.club can use WefWef knowing their credentials and data never leave their own instance. Check it out at https://app.thelemmy.club

https://app.thelemmy.club

I've heard multiple people express distrust at giving a third party website their login credentials. I trust the WefWef team, but their concern is understandable. So I decided to host it myself!

Made a few minor changes to the code to lock it down to only login to my instance.

Well I never had spam issues, until 0.18 forced captchas to be disabled. Thankfully the bots just seem to be signing up, not doing much yet. Using fake emails that never get verified.

So I threw together a little script. Just put this in a sh file, and create a cron job or systemd service to run it every 15 minutes or so. Use your favorite text edit tool to replace "thelemmyclub" with your instance name, or whatever you have your docker containers named. (Check docker ps). You'll also have to be able to run docker without sudo, so add your user to the docker group or put the cron job on root (if you do that make sure only root can access the file, for security)

Also if you set up manually without docker, well I'm sure you have the skills to adapt these commands appropriately.

First though run:

docker exec -it thelemmyclub_postgres_1 psql -U lemmy -h 127.0.0.1 -p 5432 -d lemmy -c "select * from local_user where id in (select local_user_id from email_verification where published < (NOW() - INTERVAL '60 minute'));"

This will list all users who haven't completed email verification, except those that are under an hour old. If you think these are all abandoned accounts and bots, carry on. It's always best to check before doing things to live databases...

Edit: thanks to input from @[email protected]

The sh file you need:

#! /bin/bash
docker exec -it thelemmyclub_postgres_1 psql -U lemmy -h 127.0.0.1 -p 5432 -d lemmy -c "DELETE FROM person WHERE local = 'true' AND id IN (SELECT person_id FROM local_user WHERE id IN (SELECT local_user_id FROM email_verification WHERE published < (NOW() - INTERVAL '60 minute')));"

This will delete all users over an hour old who haven't completed email verification. (Only applies to accounts made after you enabled email verification, so older accounts are safe)

Hope this helps!

Tom Grossi stopped at Pappasito's Cantina on Tuesday along his trip to visit 30 stadiums in 30 days to raise money for St. Jude's.

We counted about 35-40 people at the start, but there may have been more that filed in later.

He said he was actually able to get a tour of NRG, which is nice because not every team has let him inside. His full video on it should be coming out in the next day or two.
