Lol, in 2022 steam had profit margin of 70%. That makes it the most profitable company per employee in the United States, check it out. But obviously, they're not in it for the money, they just want players like you to be happy.

they also provide both proton completely for free

Yeah,I mean Proton is basically Wine - A free and open-source project developed by hundred of people over the years - with some extra patches. It's great, but the only reason they did it is to sell steam decks.

Steam does certain things really well, but in the end it's just a capitalist business. I don't get why gamers can be that bitchy about studios, that employ thousands of devs and artists, people who just wants to make good games but needs to deal with executives, but will rip their shirt a soon as someone criticize steam. They do no care about you, your experience, or even video games, they only care about money.

You mean like Epic who takes 12%? Or Itch that let you chose your contribution? Or Humble that takes 25% but give half of that to charity?
BTW steam is not a publisher...

The infrastructure argument is just BS in 2025. Just admit you're an official gamer, meaning you will do anything to protect a soulless capitalist business that make millions everyday but employ like 83 people. Ubisoft bad, Steam good, I know lol.

Looks like we have a noob that wouldn't survive 10 minutes in a kitchen lobby. Everyone knows that cooking with steam preserves nutrients, enhances flavor, and retains the natural texture of food.

Tidal is still the better streaming service, if you really need one, but it's starting to suck.... Bandcamp is the best of option to support artist.

[–] Yerbouti 7 points 5 hours ago

A lot of albums on Bandcamp are "pay what you want". I just got 12 albums last friday (Bandcamp friday, all the money goes to artists) for around 15$. It's not much but it's way more then they would get from my streams on Tidal. I do this pretty much every month, and I have hundreds of albums. There's ton of way to support musicians, even with a few bucks.

If your in for a wild ride, you can post something like "Steam sucks", or ask anything about "Hexbear". If you just want positive attention, go with "What's the best distro for.....?"

It's crazy how it's absolutely impossible to criticize steam without getting bashed to oblivion by so-called gamers. The amount of free balls sucking Steam gets is just ridiculous. They have sub 100 employees , take 30% of every god damn games sold on the platform and you don't own you games. Yeah it's a cool platform, but in the end it's just another nasty capitalist business.

My boy Figaro. Little bugger (he's 8 months older now) just cost me 800$ in vet this week. But he's the nicest boy out there so it's already forgotten.

I don't plan to play those so let me know what you want. If it's in the title it's available. Look in the comment someone has a Dishonoed key to give.

I'll go first.

3 options

  • Going back to 1964 to watch the Duke Ellington's Montreal show. Try to meet the man and the musicians. Hang around my city.
  • Go in the end of the 70s to meet my parents before they had kids. Grab a couple of beers and party with my young adults parents. See my uncles, etc. in their young time
  • Going to 1881 during the couple of days when Nietzsche wrote Zarathoustra. I want to discuss with guy even if he is supposed to be writing all day long. No consequence right.

What are yours?

EDIT: I'll clarify: You can't affect the timeline. It means you cant go back to try to get rich with stocks, lottery, etc. It's like going to see a movie, when you come back the world will be exactly the same. You can interact with people, but in the end, the day you spend in the past will not have existed for anyone but you, in your memories.

I love this feature on macOS, I believe you can set something similar in Gnome, but couldn't reproduce it KDE. Someone suggest mapping spacebar to open the Information panel but it's definitively not as functional. Anyone knows a widget or any way to get something similar? Also, is there a way to save my theme and settings? Cheers!
