As everyone have said, it depends on what you want to have in your server. I started with an old lenovo I bought in mercado livre for 200 BRL. It was a DDR2 PC with 4Gb ram. I bought an ssd and installed Debian. Used for years. After that I tried to build a DDR3 PC. Made it with 800 BRL and it's decent to run my docker containers like an arr stack, nextcloud, VPN, reverse proxy and vaultwarden.

Installation files not required in my device? (self.lineageos)
 

Hi guys! I have a question. In the wiki for my device installation there is no information about some files that are in the downloads page, like dbto.img and vbmeta.img. If they are not required to install lineageos on my device, why are they in the downloads page?

No power management option in BIOS at all (self.pcmasterrace)
 

Hi guys, I bought a cheap LGA 1155 MB with Intel H61 chipset to build a home server but I can't find any power management or AC option to make the PC restart after a power shortage. The BIOS is a American Megatrends 2.15.36. O went through all the menus, the manual shows an option that is not present anywhere. I went to my parents house for the holidays and, guess what? Power went down in my house. Now I'm 300km away from the power button and all my media, music and files are unavailable.

TLDR: does anyone know if I can have access to power management options if I update this machine bios? I'm on Linux, so another complexity layer to update the bios.. Is it worth the trial, after holydays of course?
