It's similar to confirmation bias, but I think that's the wrong name for the phenomenon. Confirmation bias is when we don't question things that align with our world view and reject things that don't align with it. It's certainly related to a desire for a sense of superiority, but there is something about that specific rush of neurotransmitters.
This is definitely my experience, even as a fairly social ADHD haver. I think sometimes I come on too strong because I'm trying to figure out and meet people's expectations, though I think I'm not great at evaluating what exactly those are and heavily overestimate a lot.
Java has a lot of advantages, but that's a crazy statement. I feel like literally everyone complains about basic stuff like public static void main, over reliance on factories and OOP, and just how much code you need to generate for some basic stuff. I'm not a Java hater, but I am glad I don't have to use it anymore.
Yeah, we really don't notice all the bullshit our parents deal with when we're kids.
Wait so an actual human person beat the level without TAS assistance? That's insane, I thought that they'd omitted the level because it was uploaded with a TAS, but the fact that a real person beat it is insane.
While it's not really great that any representative basically gets to do insider trading, it's frustrating that Pelosi gets most of the heat. It feels very targeted and people complaining about the issue often only complain about her and not the many many other representatives that do the same thing.
My lips definitely don't touch on F or V, my upper teeth just touch my lower lip but upper lip is safe from contact.
The Finals is the best shooter that's come out in a while. It's chaotic and a little stupid, but also just straight up fun. Assaulting the objective by just completely tearing down the building it's in is both hilarious and satisfying.
I really hope that this game does well. They have a really cool foundation and it's nice that it's a bit of a smaller developer. It's free, give it a shot!
Also... Aren't we past these clickbait article titles on Lemmy? You shouldn't need to click the comments or the article to tell what game it's talking about.
His stories are mostly over the top nonsense, but sometimes that's fun. Also, for a "AAA" studio director, he's willing to take some VERY big experimental swings when it comes to gameplay. Death Stranding has it's problems, but it's very unique. That's worth some points.
Edge started itself on boot after a recent Windows update. It even had a little pop-up about how "helpful" it was to have it start right when my computer turns on so I can "get to browsing" faster. It's never been set as my default. Uhg.
So while I generally agree with your sentiment, there are some obvious ways that sometime could be an ethical landlord.
What if you have a house that's too big, so you convert a floor into an apartment? You're adding to the number of housing units available. Should you be forced to sell a portion of your house/building to whoever wants to live there? Or should you be able to rent it out to someone at a reasonable rate? Do we want rules that discourage people from potentially adding units to the market?
I feel like the "all landlords are evil" narrative is way too simplistic, and that simplistic view turns off people who would otherwise support reasonable limits on landlords and housing ownership. Like, it's obvious that we need limits and taxes on people who own multiple properties, and it's obvious that there are companies that exploit renters and drive up prices, but it's all more complicated than just "landlords evil lol".
I mean, what Republicans want is generally just the opposite of what Democrats want, plus some additional cruelty.
