According to your logic, a 2wd w/ snow tires will be a 4wd w/ snow tires AND even with a locking rear diff. Have you ever been off roading or gone up a icy slope in the winter?

You live in canada, so buy something with both 4wd / 2wd. Having 2wd for the summer will save you gas money, and having 4wd means its safer to drive in snow (regarding safety from your vehicle and not others).

Make sure to check the oil dip stick and transmission dip stick too. And if the car is already when you get there turn it off first thing and just look through car.

The cpu cooler and mobo are pretty expensive (that could be because im in the states) but other then that the parts seem fine.

My opinion on the anytone at-778uv ii (sh.itjust.works)
 

Hello y'all, lately I have been messing around with the anytone at-778uv ii. It's a decent size radio that puts out 25 watts of power. I've been using it with a 18 inch antenna and Here are some details of my setup and the environment around me.

  • antenna is located in the attic of a single story house.
  • live in an area with rolling hills and a few mountains.

Ranges

  • furthest contact in optimal conditions: 52 miles.
  • furthest contact in sub-optimal conditions (snow): 32 miles
  • power consumption: about 8 Hours on 30 amp hour battery transmitting about every 5 minutes.

My opinion on it?

It's a good little unit, I've had it for about a year now and its still chugging along. If your looking for something to put in your car I think it's a solid choice. but as a base station I think you might want to explore more powerful radios.

You can still run around in the woods with good stick regardless of age. I still do it with my nephews.

Hello all, I'm trying to flash linux mint to a old thinkpad I'm refurbishing. However, when I go to flash the ISO to the USB, balena etcher throws the following error's

I would like to note I'm flashing this ISO from my main computer running fedora, and I installed balena etcher from an RPM, (Already tried the app image, but it seems that FUSE is acting up).

Hello y'all, I recently got a cheap uv-5r off of Amazon so I could use APRS in a off the grid location, however I'm encountering a large set of problems with the radio.

First off all, I already tried the 3 finger unlock, doesn't work. Second off, I can program channels into it with chirp, but the radio will only beep if you press ptt. Only channels 1-30 will transmit, however if you change any of it in chirp it seems to revert back to gmrs.

Anyone else having trouble installing nvida drivers on fedora 39? (self.linux_gaming)
 

Hello guys & gals, I recently distro hopped to fedora and I'm having problems getting the NVIDIA driver to properly work. I get a error when booting that says "Nvidia kernal module missing - falling back to noveau" I've tried the following;

Hello, currently I use qksms but its very problematic and lacks basic fetures. One of those issues being you cant send videos, and sending and recieving media is pixalated or blurry because of a commpresion issue. I've already tried adjusting the compresion options in settings to find out it doesn't work.

What messangers do you guys/gals recommend?
