Yeah, you're probably right. No sense in wasting electricity to change my climate when I can adapt to it. Thanks for the suggestion on the hoyas!

It's a winter issue for me. In the summer I almost get too much humidity lol. No central HVAC or air circulation other than my window.

Thanks pal! Let's see those brocc! I've never tried to grow them before, that's pretty cool.

That's awesome!! I think if I just did better with having the light closer then they might have done better? I'm not entirely sure since I'm quite new to this. Are you going to be growing any crops over the spring/summer?

Totally! I'm running Barrina T5 grow lights 35cm from the top of the pot alongside an 810 lumen LED bulb in a spare desk lamp and another small houseplant ring light. They are on for 12h per day currently. All my problems would be solved if I wasn't too lazy to sort out a solution to getting the T5's lower and closer to the letteuce, but I had those lights kicking around so they'll suffice for now.

Please post pics when it arrives! I wanna see some glowing houseplants :P

So vibrant, it almost looks fake.

Heck yeah buddy! Welcome to the sport! I'm a big proponent of getting lessons if you can. No matter what your ability is, from beginner to seasoned racer, there's always something you can do to progress. Barring that, it's hard to give tips without seeing your form. But if you post a video, I can help. I'm sure that there are resources online that I'm unaware of.

Many ski shops have summer sales on gear, so if you get on their mailing lists then you can get deep discounts on equipment in the off-season. I haven't bought anything full price in years.

Let me know if you have any more questions. :)

StreetComplete is actually heaps of fun. Pic4Review is another great one for contributing.

Thanks for sharing this; it's an anti-feature in my opinion. Consider adding your feedback on Github RE the Kayak integration / Ads.

I used store-bought eggnog. Earth's Own is the brand available to me. Then just rum, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The rimmer was maple syrup, cinnamon, and sugar.

Rum! And where I live, eggnog is not sold with alcohol in it by default. I actually didn't know that was even a thing.

I mist my Alocasia Frydek every morning and it has been doing fine. It even opened a new leaf. This is the soil that it came with about 2 weeks ago. I did notice one droopy leaf but it's on the opposite side of my grow light so I think it's just going to die off (should I snip?)

Mainly, I'm wondering whether this web-looking thing is a cause for concern such as some kind of pest? It has been there all week.

Update: I filmed a video of a worm-like thing eating something with its "head" at the bottom of this screenshot. I don't know how to upload the whole video to Lemmy.

This is for a rental unit, so I'm trying to keep the cost low, while also sealing it away from silverfish. I have very fine steel wool on hand as well as a tube of DAP ultra clear flexible all purpose sealant.

Looking for 10k-12k BTU.

UPDATE: After more investigation, I was advised that this uses a central boiler for a hot water baseboard heater and it is safe to keep the curtains or sheers at least 1/2" to 1" above the top of the baseboards.

I think it is an Alocasia amazonica ‘Ivory Coast’? Or an Alocasia Longiloba/Lowii Pink Dragon?

This one was difficult to resist lol

I have had this cast iron plant for many many years in the exact same spot, no fertilizer, and it has done ok but not a lot of growth. I decided to take it out, change some of the soil, and trim the roots a little. I returned it to the same spot. But now, the leaves are turning yellow and it has some brown tips. The pot doesn't have drainage and my housemate watered it again when it probably didn't need it. Are these all symptoms of overwatering or could it be transplant shock?
