The things they promise to do like segmentation and 2FA should very well have been in place for the most part already. Sounds like a lot of 'just try harder' to me

I haven't particularly looked for one recently, but you could accommodate a lot of that with a simple mouse that uses standard AA batteries. Nice to be able to swap without it having to be some special type, but he one I had was some cheap thing that broke quick.

Universities will also have to add mandatory antidiscrimination training for students under the laws, which were introduced by Jewish lawmakers with the aim of counteracting antisemitic harassment that has reportedly spiked on college campuses since Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel last year.

Wow, way to keep the tone and framing of the report balanced there Politico. Have to mention in multiple paragraphs about how Hamas attacked and what the Jewish legislators did and thought. Then the phrasing 'yet the ACLU contested...' to indicate just how bizarre and shocking their contention is...

I get that essentially every news org has an opinion and position these days, but can you at least try and make some semblance of not trying to spin things that much? A story can only take so much centrifugal force before it rips itself apart.

Not likely, which is usually the goal for this kind of game. Just far enough out to be semi-believable so a judge won't just slap an injunction on it without a hearing, but close enough that any hearing and resolution will be so close to the event that the people affected have to do a month long task in 2 weeks and decide it's not worth it. Timing things so 'even if we lose, we win'.

He wasn't 'stuck with' but rather wasn't confident they could fill a proper arena. People tire of the same old schtick day in and out of complaining about imagined ghosts and deep state conspiracies. I've noticed even some of the most dedicated Q-cultists around here have started softening their support and sheepishly walking back their claims.

Some of those are absurdly strong. I have wild grapes in my yard that got ahold of an old clothesline with 6 lines across it. Now I didn't use said line so figured just let it be to feed the birds and such. Turns out it got thick enough that one winter when a particularly heavy snow came through the weight of the snow on the vine mat was enough to bend in the poles that are a good 3 inches thick.

For those willing to do a bit of CLI work there are even tools to pull your whole library automagically. Just make sure you got the space for it. Sitting at just over 1.5 TB here.

I wonder just how far down the road they think they'll get. The 'little free libraries' and ebooks, legal or less than, would be near impossible for them to push this show onto.

Information will be free, like it or not the stories will be told and you can't do a damn thing about it.

Zuchowski followed up to his own Facebook post last week, saying his comments “may have been a little misinterpreted??”

Really, I'd love to see the gymnastics involved to explain how he meant for it to be interpreted...

In my state you can take a class that gets a special marker put on your driver license forever (took it when I was maybe 10 and it's marked today) but so far as I gather it's just some sort of trophy badge rather than having any function. Even something like that as a pre-req wouldn't be a bad start when the baseline now is just don't be a felon.

There are some use cases other than web page compatibility. One for me is in dealing with firewall and proxy policy, if the agent is a browser and comes in on specified explicit ports then force authentication, things of that nature.
