Had the completly oposite experience: mint installed in 2 hours with everything working. No bloatware, no bullshit. Biggest obstacle was, that changing the device bootorder is nog enough- uefi seetings needed some love to. I can imagine that this is not necessery if you do not use dual boot ( like win....talking about experience...)

For me everything works perfect- mint is my primary os now

I just installed Linux Mint out of curiosity parallel to Windows on my tower.

I was suprised, that everything (drivers, bluetooth, dual monitors,...) worked out of the box- and since valve has strong support for Linux nowerdays due to their adaptions for the steamdeck, steam was already offered to be installed from the sw center.

I was able to install and successfully play games without any issues.

So from a gamers perspective: it is worth to invest the ~two hours setup time to give it a try ;)

Matrix/Element has a beta that allows p2p calling and group calling besides what the Matrix platform is known for (chat, rooms, file transfer,...) "Element Call - Florian Heese" (Youtube) goes into the details - might be of interest for you.

I have no love for them either - but remember that the main problem (imho) is the uneaven wealth distribution. Oligarchs love to see a divided working class!
